PASTOR’S Words

“Living Your Life In THE OVERFLOW”

“A thief has only one thing in mind--he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect--life in its fullness until you overflow!“ (John 10:10, TPT)

In the midst of a pandemic, political unrest, righteous protest and vaccine distribution, 2021 may not, (to the naked eye) appear to look any different than the unforgettable year of 2020. A year that I describe as the interruption of everything familiar. For as I write these words, in the United States alone, over 19.4 million have been infected with Covid19 virus, resulting in 336k deaths. On top of these growing numbers, we have an outgoing Administration living in an alternate universe, still in denial of a legitimate, history making, game changing election. Georgia’s Senate race is still too close for comfort, requiring every eligible child of the Most High to vote death out and life in! I know it may even feel like the same season, like the more things change, the more they remain the same; however, my confidence in the inspired words of John’s gospel, informs me that this is absolutely a timeless, new day called, overflow! Overflow as a noun - the excess or surplus not able to be accommodated by an available space. (Google) A noun is a person, place, or a thing. This definition, prophetically points to the undeniable reality, that is not only both/and, but is also beyond! The Transcendence of Overflow(God) is beyond our limited concepts, ideas, theologies, beliefs and faith; nevertheless, even the Immanence of Overflow, that can be experienced, cannot be contained in buildings made by hands. I am reminded of Paul’s words in Acts 17:28a, NKJV, “ in him we live and move and have our being.” In other words, Overflow is the ocean and we are underwater marine life seeking proof (that the ocean exists) instead of becoming aware of the evidence all around us! Awareness is everything! It is the express lane of faith, called knowing. To know, is to be! This is the year to move beyond simply believing in God, and having faith in His Word. This is the timeless new day to know Overflow, intimately! Jesus, as the word of God that had become flesh, announces to the listening audience, “ But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect- life in its fullness until you overflow”, the life in its fullness, is knowing God in us! This is living your life in the Overflow! It is an ever progressive spiritually aware life! A divinely human life! Just like Jesus, fully divine and fully human as one. The kind of life, that must be expressed, and once it springs up (manifests by thought, word, and deed) it is designed to overflow in all directions transforming private and public sectors of human life around the world! Real Power Kinfolk, Get Ready for THE OVERFLOW!!!! Happy Blessed New Year and Renewed You!

Rev. Dr. Harold B. Hayes, Jr.

Let’s Pray a Hedge of Protection Around Our Pastor

Father, I extol Your name. You are the covenant keeping God. Marriage is a covenant that You have established to show the world Your intended plan for the church which is Your preparing bride. I lift up my pastor’s marriage unto You. I pray that my pastor loves his spouse purely and sincerely with the agape love of God. I pray that they will take some time away from ministry to spend quality time with each other. May they always be each other’s closest friend and confidant. In Jesus Name, Amen. (Prayer from Deborah L. Grant’s “Have You Prayed For Your Pastor Lately?”)

Monthly Meditation: “Perfect Peace in the Storm” By Min. Latoya Carr “Suddenly, as they were crossing the lake, a ferocious tempest arose, with violent winds and waves that were crashing into the boat until it was all but swamped. But Jesus was calmly sleeping in the stern, resting on a cushion. So, they shook him awake, saying, “Teacher, don’t you even care that we are all about to die!” Fully awake, he rebuked the storm and shouted to the sea, “Hush! Calm down!” All at once, the wind stopped howling and the water became perfectly calm.” Mark 4:37-39 We all have had times when God has had to check us to see how much we’ve really been listening, to see how calm we will be when trouble hits us, or to see how we can talk to our own storms. That is okay! In our roughest moments, our loudest moments, we can always count on that still voice that can make it all go away. In these times, it is better to take the lesson versus the beating. Lessons teach us how to get over something, how to do something better, or how to do something different. However, beatings leave us with scars. Do not allow your storms to scar you. Jesus was calm because He trusted the outcome. He knew if He spoke life, life would be. 2020 was a rough storm and we do not want to bring those winds with us into this New Year. Therefore, I encourage you to speak to your storms as Jesus did. When you do that, no matter how bad the storm looks, you will find your peace in the middle of it.

HEALTHY, WEALTHY, & WISE: January is Healthy Weight Awareness Month

After indulging ourselves with great food and special treats during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we find ourselves tipping the scale a bit come January. As much as we all enjoy the good eats and amazing treats, it is important to cut back once the New Year hits and begin shedding the extra weight. Here are some tips and simple changes to help you get started: Buddy up! Find a friend to lock arms with. Together, you can support each other and hold one another accountable to stay on track toward your goals. It starts at the grocery store! Do most of your shopping around the perimeter of the store; that is where the good stuff is! The middle is mostly filled with processed, unhealthy items. Be sure to check expiration dates. Oh, and be sure your belly is well fed before shopping to help you maintain self-control! Breakfast: the most important meal of the day. This is not just a cliché! Breakfast should be a healthy mix of protein and whole grains and weigh in at about 300 calories. A simple example is whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and a piece of fruit. Keep track! Thanks to smartphones, it is easier than ever to keep a detailed food log no matter where your day takes you. A few good app options are Calorific, The Eatery, Evernote, Lose It, My Fitness Pal, My Food Diary. Most of these apps have a database of tens of thousands of foods, including many popular restaurant menu items. Get moving! Ditch the all-or-nothing attitude. You do not need to spend hours working out or force yourself into grueling activities you hate. A little exercise is better than nothing. Adding just a modest amount of physical activity to your weekly routine can have a profound effect on your mental and emotional health, as well as your physical health!
