STUDENT SUPPORT AND INTERVENTION COORDINATORS

Student Support and Intervention Coordinators (SSICs) provide support, guidance, and advocacy for learners facing various life events or demonstrating concerning behaviours impacting their pursuit of academic success.

Faculty can refer learners to the SSICs by email (SICsupport@humber.ca). Include the learner’s name and student number, and high-level information about the support being requested. If you have the learner’s consent to refer them to for SSIC services, copy them in your referral email Learners may also contact the SSICs by email on their own behalf

Programs And Initiatives

Non-clinical case management: SSICs provide short- (1-3 appointments) and long-term (4+ appointments) support with policy and process navigation, advocating for academic considerations, and can connect learners to appropriate resources at the college and within their communities on matters such as: financial supports, food insecurity, housing instability, mental health, conflict resolution, substance abuse/addiction, and more Support for Sexual Violence Survivors: SSICs receive disclosures of sexual violence and inform survivors about wellness and mental health supports, internal Code of Student Community Standards reporting options internal and external to the College, liaise with faculty to arrange academic considerations for survivors, and connect survivors with other resources to support their well-being

Consultations: SSICs can consult with faculty on supporting a learner of concern or a distressed learner

Active Listening Sessions: SSICs provide support for campus partners hosting sessions with sensitive content and are present to offer resources and referrals to affected learners

Training and Development: SSICs offer trainings such as Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence for faculty and provide information on campus wellness supports
