Lady Bulldogs get win over Bonham, lose to Gunter

The Howe Lady Bulldogs (5-16-1) pulled off a dramatic win on Tuesday night at home against Bonham. Ryleigh Craven produced eight strikeouts of Lady Warriors hitters, but none were more dramatic than the final one in the top of the seventh inning that sealed the 5-3 win to give Howe their fifth win and their third in six contests. In the top of the seventh, Howe needed just three outs for the win. Craven, who had pitched the entire game got Paizley Vaught to pop out to shortstop Kamry Snapp. Cameron Pearson then lined out back to Craven. Things got sketchy when Alayna Laisy walked to bring up Reyleigh Shockley to represent the tying run. But Craven needed only three pitches to sit down Shockley for the win. At the plate, Chloe Scoggins let Howe with two hits including a 3-run double in the first inning. Freshman Kennadi Barrett also collected two hist on the night and scored two runs. Overall, Howe had eight hits and two walks.
Howe vs. Bonham Howe at Gunter Craven went all seven innings, allowing five hits. All three runs were earned as Howe committed only one error. She walked three and struck out eight. On Friday, the Howe girls traveled to Gunter to take on a very tough Lady Tigers team. Howe lost 16-1 and were allowed only two hits throughout the contest. Craven and Josee McCullar each had singles. McCullar scored the lone Lady Bulldogs run. Railyn Murphy started on the rubber and went three innings, allowing nine earned runs on 13 hits. She walked two and struck out one. She was relieved by Craven who pitched the final inning, allowing three earned runs on four hits. She struck out one.
