Howe Youth Football Roundup The Howe Bulldogs first and second grade team took on a bigger, stronger and faster Sherman team on Saturday in Anna. The Bulldogs kicked off to begin the game, which Sherman promptly returned 55 yards for a touchdown. A converted extra point put the Dogs in a quick 7-0 hole. Quarterback Hayes Carter took the Dogs on a promising first drive with Levi Halladay picking up two first downs. The drive stalled and the Dogs turned the ball over on downs.
line, zig-zagged to the house for the first touchdown of the day. The Bulldogs scored early and often, to literally run away with the victory as the offensive line led the way for the win with great blocking.
Sherman assembled another drive, but not without considerable pressure from the Dogs defense. Halladay, Levi Escamilla, Raiden Hogue and Mason Hall held the Bearcat offense to fourth down on two occasions, but Sherman was able to punch across another score, and the route was on. Sherman took a 26-0 halftime lead, building it to a final score of 50-0 final. The Sherman head coach did give the Bulldogs props, commenting this was the only team that had been able to stop their inside running game all season.
The final game of the season is next Saturday in Bonham against the Paris Wildcats for the second seed in the playoffs.
Riken Cross had another big day with two touchdowns and four 2point conversions. Kendall O'Brien and Charles Fuhr both ran in a score from the Anna 30 yard line. Conner Roberts snuck one in from the two yard line for a touchdown. Brevin Mayo and Gage Owens stepped it up on defense and made multiple tackles for losses. The defense showed their tenacity, and only allowed one first down.
The fifth and sixth grade Howe Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss of the season, shut out Anna 50-0 and improve to 5-1 on the season. Howe's Braylen Johnson took the opening kick at the Bulldog 45-yard
