Injury-riddled Dogs limp to 55-10 loss Howe ISD suspends remotelearning due to high failure rate
The press box is the greatest place to watch a high school football game. Not because of the view, but because of who isn’t in the press box—parents and “fans.” If your understanding of sports has been developed by culture and not scripture then winning will be more important to you than the development and the display of Godly character. When a stranger tells you that your kid is a great shooting guard or a lineman, that's a proud moment that only lasts as long as their health allows them to be athletic. If someone tells you that your kids are respectful, kind, and decent human beings - that lasts throughout and should be far more valuable than what they were able to accomplish against last week's team. Be grateful for those who serve as coaches because you are personally indebted to those individuals who have cared for and invested in your athletes and their friends and set a priority of Godly character. They are a gift to parents because they get it. Think before you speak when they're trying to mold your kid into something that lasts much longer than Friday nights. The failure rate for students in grades 3-12 enrolled in remote instruction for the first six weeks was over 65 percent, compared
to a failure rate of 9 percent for students enrolled on-campus. Several factors have contributed to this, but the ISD says that remote instruction has proven to be inappropriate for the vast majority of students.
“Coupled with the loss of instruction last spring, we cannot afford to let them fall farther behind this year,” said Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson in a press release. The rate of positive COVID-19 cases for Howe (Continued on page 4)

In a normal year, there may not be enough at the State Fair of Texas to nurse the number of Bulldogs wiped out to injury. The Howe Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3), are losing players to left and right. Coming into the game, Howe came into the game against Emory Rains
(3-3, 1-2) already without starters Will Fleming, Jalen Thornton, Carson Daniels, Matthew Bearden, Kolby Taylor, and Dakota Herrington. By the time the game was over, joining the injury list was Caleb Hix, Jordan Jones, Ethan (Continued on page 10)
