Fictitious stories told at the library
a
On Saturday, February 1, Irene Sandell gave a fascinating presentation at the Howe Community Library about Texas history and the fictitious stories she has created. Irene had a very interesting slide show explaining certain aspects of Texas history and how she came up with the story lines for her books. Actually, her stories are more real than her readers might think. The main character of In A Fevered Land was actually based on her father's days in the Texas oil fields. The photos she showed and her stories about how those wildcatting days of the 1920s and
1930s shaped Texas history captivated all who attended. All four of her award-winning books are available at the library.
