Howe High School Star Students The tradition of selecting Students of the Month continues at Howe High. Each month, every teacher nominates one boy and one girl in each grade level based on academic or extracurricular achievements or improvements. The Students of the Month for January include freshman Brooklyn Vallier and Jalen Thornton, sophomores Zoie Defrange and Dylan Peacock, juniors Maya Agee and Parker Blount (pictured), and seniors Abby Morrow and Hunter Cheatham. The Keep Howe Beautiful Board held a meeting on February 12 at Gabriella's Restaurant. Texas Trash-Off dates were set for Saturday, March 17 and Saturday, May 19. Community members are encouraged to participate. Both trash collecting times will begin at 10:00 am and run for one to two hours. Patches will be available for participating youth.

The Howe Police Chief Matt Whitworth informed the city council on Tuesday night that for the month of January, 2018 answered 170 calls to service, issued 135 citations, investigated eight accidents, wrote a total of 36 reports, had 11 arrests in which five of those were felonies.
