Upgrading the bell tower
Boyd Dunn stands with the newly purchased luvers. The soon-to-be wedding venue in Howe is about to have brand new luvers installed in the bell tower of the 123-year-old structure. The luvers were found by Boyd Dunn, who is serving as project construction manager for the renovation. Roger Brown, owner of Metal Masters and 1992 Howe High School graduate will install the luvers in the coming weeks. A year ago, Brown and Clyde Hepner volunteered to paint the exterior fish scaling. Dunn will begin work soon on the new porch on the front of the building. The porch will

Howe superintendent given Rotary's Paul Harris Fellow recognition Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow recognition on Thursday at the weekly Hurricane Creek Rotary Club luncheon. Wilson is the past president of the local Rotary organization. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of US$1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

It was established in 1957 to show appreciation for and encourage
substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships. Many other notable figures have been named as Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk. The number of Paul Harris Fellows reached the one million mark in 2006.
