Howe Police Chief Carl Hudman reported that in the month of July the department answered 216 calls for service, made six felony arrests, 17 misdemeanor arrests, generated 31 work-orders, investigated four accidents and issued 109 citations. He reported one on-the-job injury with a new officer that cut his hand removing debris. He was back to work within the week. Hudman also reported that they had one use-of-force incident with Officer Robert Todd attempting to arrest a suspect who resisted. Tom Bean PD arrived to assist and the suspect ended up being tased. No medical attention was required for suspect or any officer. Public Works Director David Wortham reported 62 work orders in July. They had eight leaks and picked up two dogs. Monte Walker, president of Howe Development Alliance told the council that the owner of 303 E. Haning St. has a potential lessee and are close to finalizing a deal. A hopeful date of opening is now thought to be around November 1.
