Howe's That by Monte Walker Years ago they moved youth league baseball up to early spring, I guess so families could go on vacations and have a longer summer without the "hassle" of playing baseball. In this particular year, that idea has been a complete failure. The youth baseball program started practicing in the first week of March, however, due to ice, snow, and rain, the fields have been so muddy that three weeks worth of practicing has turned in to three practices and one on an infield. I understand that today's version of Bill and Barbara, we'll call them Zack and Tiffanie, need to take little Carson and Cameron water rafting for a week but I'm wondering if we really got this right.
"I see great things in baseball. It's our game — the American game. It will take our people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us." ~ Walt Whitman
