Aligning with the Love of September: A focus on relationships in our community.
I
n matters of the heart, we are drawn to people from our souls. We attract who we are and what we are ready for, not just what we want. There are parts of us that need healing, and without it, we perpetuate toxic behavior patterns that lead to an ongoing cycle of pain, shame and brokenness, especially with whom we engage romantically. Toxic relationships take on many forms. You can
be involved in a toxic relationship and not be aware of it. Usually, we’re so caught up in the frequency of love that we don’t see just how bad things are. If you notice your life spiraling out of control when you’re with someone, you feel inadequate when they’re around, you form new habits that aren’t in the best interest of your highest self or worse, you’re mentally or physically beaten down by someone,

then you’re a part of a toxic situation. It’s nearly impossible to go through life without experiencing a toxic partner. When we are not active participants in our healing, we attract more of who we are which is our spirits attempt to bring us into a space of wholeness. To begin the healing process, take time for self. Indulge in self-care. Unlearn that which no
longer serves you and learn the things that were not taught to us about loving partnerships. Be willing to explore new consciousness and step outside of your comfort zone. You have the power to manifest the love you deserve and desire. It starts within.

FOR ARETHA IN LIBATION My heart weeps and rejoices in the passing of Music Matriarch Aretha Franklin.
I
reflect on singing her songs and getting laughed at for being ahead of my time. The other little girls were singing En Vogue. But even they covered her song...”Chain chain chain...I’d sang as I cleaned my teacher’s chalkboard. My grandmother attended one of her weddings in Detroit….I reflect on the oratory role her tunes played in surviving the hardest moments of my life, time when my diamond was still grinding as coal. I wonder how many tales of her match this one, in the lives of all her annointed vocale touched. The stories must

be infinite… Speaking of, God/Goddess all but broke the mold on Aretha Louise Franklin. It made perfect sense that her time with us was so supernaturally impactful. She came in zodiac house of Aries on Wednesday, March 25, 1942. Perhaps Mars was the driving force, the fire inside of each note. A fire that blazed decades of music, and hearts of millions of people worldwide.
MERCURY AND URANUS RULED THE DAY SHE CAME ON A LIFE PATH NUMBER 8. Infinity... she sang as
if she had done so for decades. Her moon made her a natural mother in the zodiac house of Cancer. Weren’t her songs like cool cucumber water when parched? The other mother on the radio, and countless other singers? Unapologetically emotional, if nothing else? Oh, but so much more. She, Aretha Louise Franklin was a matriarch of our journey as a people. She graduated into the realm of the ancestors and began her next journey in the zodiac house of Leo on
Thursday, August 16, 2018 after 76 years. Again, the path number marked an infinite 8, a divine design she was indeed. She came in divine fire, and left the same way, in infinity, while the moon was waxing in Scorpio. Still waters run deep...yes they do. Giving thanks and praises. Libations. ASE. or the early part of my life as most young men, I was enthralled with sports. If it was played with a ball, I was interrested. I come from a the times when head trauma was just part of the game. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing remains constant. Big corp advertising has always been at the forefront of metering public perception. If you haven’t been paying attention. Ex-pro football quarterback Colin
Kaepernick was all but banned from the National Football League for taking a knee during the national anthem. Kapernicks protest was due to the over policing and discrimination practices fostered by this country upon Black and brown communities. Big corp Nike released a “socially sensitive” ad campaign featuring the ex pro quarterback as the voice over for and cameo. The ad seems to show support for those who are leading the charge in

redefining what it is to compete. But Kaepernick’s protest was against the social inequalities that our community faces not athletic competition. This is yet another ploy to distract from the real issue, pacify the community and re-engage the consumer base by showing “pseudo support” for a champion of our collective cause. Im sure most will see the ad and think - wow! Nike really stepped up on this one. I ask you then, with all the capital and resources that Nike has available, why didn’t they use their influence to garner real change and campaign against the real issue at the heart of Kaepernick’s protest. Social injustice in Amerikkka!

H
ow was your day honey? I missed you today! Do you need help with washing the dishes to prepare dinner? These are just simple ways to strengthen a relationship, by showing appreciation to your loved ones. Appreciation is an action of sincere compassion for another and their feelings. Although, couples are individuals in union striving to build an empire, the binding force that solidifies the relationship is individuality. Let your mate be! Learn to appreciate their differences

because that is what separates them from others and makes them special in this world. On the other hand, depreciation is the rapid decline of love over the years. For example, once you take that car (mate) you love off the lot (single scene) it loses value unless you uphold and cherish it. “The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.” -Dalai Lama Unfortunately, the difference between the car and the human being is that the car has no feelings and cannot think nor reason. So the first love should be self-love because
if you cannot love yourself then no matter what partner you have you’ll never realize your potential value. Relationships tend to dissolve due to the lack of appreciation, especially in the melenated communities, where the divorce rate continues to soar. Superficial relationships in 2018 are saturated with how many “likes” or “smiley faces” one receives through DM, snap chat, Instagram, etc. Ergo, you can see the truth
in your partner by how they treat themselves and others. Love is a practical application with unlimited benefits if used in the correct manner, so start practicing today. Golden Rule – “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” Literal Substance Editorial

eptember is here in this 11/2 year. The “Sept” part of the month’s name is a giveaway of its original place in the yearly calendar. Before January and February were added to the year, March was the actual first month of the year. That places September’s place as month number 7...the number of Divine
completion. Today, it is month number 9, the number of intuition and mystic wisdom. On the backdrop of the year of the Woman, Goddess Earth brings us much in this month. The leaves turn golden brown, and the summer temperatures find themselves cooling down
as the cardinal house of Libra ushers in Autumn Equinox. The Goddess Earth sheds all that is old, whispering in breezes for us to do the same. She also ends the season of mutable Virgo, filling September’s vibrations with the earth and the air. People born in either of these houses will be on a naturally higher

same day. As this relates to relationships, the focus that this month brings is that of balancing your relationships in a way that brings forth a good harvest. Many people are embracing their spiritual
paths, and that affects love connections. In my years of doing love readings, I have found that the love connections most likely to last are the ones bound by spiritual compatibility above all else. This starts with balancing as the individual. No matter where you may be in your
journey, take the time to meditate, balance, and recharge yourself. Often times, we find ourselves so obsessed with planting new seeds that we don’t take the time to rejoice for the harvest already manifested. September calls us to embrace more moments of stillness and
gratitude. Reflecting on the harvest of previous works will help gain balance, and be advised that the aforementioned planets in retrograde may make reflecting very intense. Embracing this September energy with an honest,
open spirit, you will find yourself more balanced than ever before. Being in a balanced, clear, place of love for yourself and your harvest here on Earth is sure to attract a love that will match perfectly into the life of your natural vibration.
