HOTEP,

In order to become your “Best Self” one has to first ask himself pivotal questions, “Who am I? And What am I?”.

How to obtain the Virtues of life? Lower Nature (Carnal Pleasures) vs. Higher Nature (Mother of Virtues). According to two specific laws of the universe vibration and rhythm; Vibration represents that everything vibrates and nothing rests. Vibrations of the same frequency resonate with each other, so like attracts like energy.

EVERYTHING IS ENERGY,

including your thoughts. Consistently focusing on a particular thought or idea attracts its vibrational match. In order to focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want. Rhythm verifies that

everything has a natural cycle. The tides go in and back out, night follows into day, and life regenerates itself.

WE ALL HAVE GOOD TIMES

and bad times, but nothing stays the same. Change is constant. Knowing that “This too shall pass” is great wisdom about life’s ebb and flow. When you are on a down swing, know that things will get better and think of the good times that are coming. Once you understand the matrix program and its structural dependencies you can become that unstoppable energy NEO displayed in the Matrix. While

all along being taught by “Moor-pheus”. The unstoppable force is sometimes called different names in different cultures found all around the world going back thousands of years such as Heru, Horus, Brahma, Mohammed, Krishna, Buddha, Zen, Dao and Jesus. Today you must work to become creators of your own universe within the multiverse and life will become every manifestation from thought conceived in love. Literal Substance Editorial Team

ANCESTORY

ANUBIS AND THE AFTERLIFE The deity associated with mummification and the afterlife usually depicted as a canine or a man with a canine head.

Archeologists identified the sacred animal of Anubis as an Egyptian canid, that at the time was called the golden jackal, but recent genetic testing has caused the Egyptian animal to be reclassified as the African golden wolf. Like many ancient Egyptian deities, Anubis assumed different roles in various contexts. Depicted as a protector of graves as early as the First Dynasty (c. 3100 – c. 2890 BC), Anu-

4

bis was also an embalmer. By the Middle Kingdom (c. 2055 – 1650 BC) he was re-

placed by Osiris in his role as lord of the underworld. One of his prominent roles

was as a god who ushered souls into the afterlife. He attended the weighing scale during the “Weighing of the Heart,” in which it was determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the realm of the dead. Despite being one of the most ancient and “one of the most frequently depicted and mentioned gods” in the Egyptian pantheon, Anubis played almost no role in Egyptian myths. Anubis was depicted in black, a color that symbolized both rebirth and the discoloration of the corpse after embalming. Historians assume that the two figures were eventually combined.[9] Anubis’ female counterpart is Anput. His daughter is the serpent goddess Kebechet.

KNOW THY SELF I am not the fastest nor the quickest,

I am not the Idol nor the worshipper,

I am not the smartest nor the slowest,

I am not the scholar nor the master,

I am not the sharpest nor the dullest,

I am not the leader nor the follower

But I KnowThyself.

But I KnowThyself.

“Except what you are given.“ For life is an eternal wheel from whence all must evaluate their existence to find harmony and balance. Time never was when man was not. HO T E P M A G A Z I NE · JA NU A RY 20 17

/ Belly up to the Chef’s table and let Chef Ferguson put a spin on your favorite breakfast dish. Darnell Ferguson, founder and owner of Super Chef’s Restaurant, knew early on what he enjoyed and wanted to do. It was while attending vocational school that he realized

how much he enjoyed cooking. His inspiration was watching celebrity chef, Emeril, on TV, and that’s when he decided he wanted to own his own restaurant. But getting

there was a lot more difficult than he ever imagined! Ferguson started out in the right direction, attending Kentucky’s Sullivan University to study culinary arts. He was one of only two black students who were chosen out of thousands to be a part of the 2008 Olympic Team in Beijing, China. Now, it might seem like the rest of his life would unfold from here, but it didn’t. It was when Ferguson began attending church that he realized that he needed to make changes in his life. With his temper now under control, he talked to a friend about leasing space in his restaurant. He wanted to create what he calls a “pop-up” where

he could serve breakfast. After a few months, other restaurant owners were approaching him to do the same thing at their restaurants. He was finally back on track! In 2015, Ferguson partnered with his friend, Ryan Bryson, to open their very own restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky, call SuperChef’s Breakfast & More, but sadly that location was burned down. Since then, however, he has opened two more restaurants in the Columbus, Ohio area. Once a “street thug” without a home, Ferguson is now a successful entrepreneur.

Communities near and around downtown, are bracing for the tensions that have become typical of inner-city neighborhoods as they begin to gentrify.

igh Rises, gentrification and remodeling. H-Town is getting a facelift! As the city’s population continues to increase, out of towners now call H-town their home. The city’s atmosphere has been at an all-time high as being the main stay in the United States of America. Just this past February H-Town hosted America’s game the Super Bowl. Super Bowl XL was one of the greatest comeback games in history with an overtime win by the New England Patriots, who captured their fifth title. The Super Bowl in H-town saw record numbers in sales and fan participation. Sports, food, NASA, entertainment, arts and sciences are just to name a few of the exciting to do’s in H-Town.

our African American communities such as 5th ward, 3rd ward and 1st ward have changed into high rising skyscrapers, three story town homes and condominiums. What is that southern hospitality feel? Its where children can run and play in the streets with neighbors, sit on the porch to enjoy the view and smell the roses. However, due to the New York transformation, some of those attributes will not be the focal point due to the changes. Don’t get me wrong! If the city wants to do transformation of the landscape stay out of the hoods.

10

THE NEW LOOK SO FAR IS COSTING HOMEOWNERS IN THESE AREAS

according to the Houston Chronicle, “The changes threaten Houston’s vaunted identity as an affordable place to live and, if left unchecked, could magnify the economic segregation and income inequality of a city already ranked high in both this is a metropolis in flux, a place where newly built townhome developments and upscale apartment complexes cater to the affluent, reverse white flight is changing the complexion and character of inner-city neighborhoods, and

low-income residents are being pushed out and away from jobs.” Consequently, around the Hispanic East End, a spurt of gentrification has bumped home prices up 85 percent from 2010 to 2014, most of that within the last two years. In Third Ward, a historically black neighborhood, prices increased 125 percent over five years. Selling prices for homes in the metro area as a whole went up 10.2 percent from 2013 to 2014, according to a report from Rice University’s Shell Center for Sustainability.

TOOLS TO REVOLUTION: BLACK+POWER= INFLUENCE, MONEY, LAND, AND UNITY What good is knowledge without action and how can you take action without knowledge.

It seems every conscious corner you turn on someone is trying to showcase their wealth of knowledge. When did it become adequate to quote and mimic to be a revolutionary or conscious? The problem with the black community is that we accept non-sense, deception, lack of action, and great speeches. Spiritually refurbished and revolutionized quotes and actions should be spoken and put to use on a

12

daily in the name of liberation and evolution of our people. We must as individuals, leaders and groups take knowledgeable action every day not just when a story comes on the news or on the internet.

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS AND MOTHERS USED KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO TAKE ACTION. Marcus Garvey, Nat Turner, Malcolm, Martin, Harriet,

Aussetta Shakur, Betty, etc. all of them took what they were taught freed, killed, took a stand, and provided for our people. Nobody just went around speaking just to speak, nobody had debates to see who was smarter it was to increase knowledge in order to take correct action for certain results. Now as soon as we see a fellow Sista or Brotha we trying to test her or his knowledge and see who knows more or we join groups on and off the computer to parade our pride and use it as a patch on our sleeve instead of nutrients to our body. A true lover of her or his culture embraces knowledge and it flows through them like the blood in veins.

KNOWLEDGE CHANGES YOUR LIFE AND LIFESTYLE. Knowledge dictates action as you learn you should not try

and post it first you should use as a spiritual life enhancer. You won’t be the most popular person and you won’t get thousands of jobs offers but it will pay off eventually. If you read a book on revolution study the tactics, the language, the mistakes, and spirit not mimic or quote but to revolt! Spiritually Refurbished-

Actions taken or words spoken from the Ancestors or an Ancestor and reused to modern times. Whether it be an Idea, Quote, Plan, etc. Example: Malcolm X Speech: The Ballot or The Bullet, Khalid Muhammad Speech: The Bullet or The Bullet, Martin Luther King: Million Man March, Louis Farrakhan: Million Man March,

Black Panther Party, New Black Panther Party If there are 3 things our culture now has lost sight of is power, money, and agriculture. You can’t scream black power and those not be on your list of things to do.
