OVID cannot stop HCA guitar instructor and musician Jack Byrne’s gig calendar from filling up the first Friday of each month.

As the host of the popular “First Friday Open Mic” Byrne says he has never been prouder of how his students are transitioning to online performing during COVID. “I had no idea what to expect and neither did they, I’m sure, but their positive attitudes and open mindedness have made the last several months so much easier than they could have been,” said Byrne. “So thank you to all my students! You’re all rock stars!” He credits the amazing community of regular performers for fostering an experience where people of all ages can share in the joy and healing power of music “Even now that we can’t meet in person, we still do the open mic on Facebook Live, and it’s been amazing seeing people from all over the country get to watch and participate!,” said Byrne.

JACK BYRNE | MUSICIAN, INSTRUCTOR

“Music brings people together, which is more important now than ever, so I’m so grateful to keep being a part of our Open Mic at the HCA.”

Your caring heart helped the HCA meet the challenges of COVID head on by bringing the joy of art making and art viewing to people’s homes. Thank you!
