The Dreamer
The lights dimmed. The audience hushed. A little girl’s eyes began to twinkle. Emma Pawl remembers her first-grade self being so mesmerized by an Enter Stage Left Theater (ESL) children’s production that she was determined to be in the next show. “My mother had learned about this theater company simply from seeing a local flyer,” she said. Now preparing for her first year at Berklee College of Music this fall as a vocal performance major, Pawl has fond memories of her time here. “HCA will always hold a special place in my heart, for it has been a second home to me,” said Pawl. As the resident theater company of Hopkinton Center for the Arts, ESL Theater offers children, teens and adults an important outlet for self-expression, exploring their talents, and developing leadership skills. “HCA provides, through the arts, a place for young people to discover their passions, connect and collaborate with their peers, positive role models and mentors who inspire, and a place to belong outside of school, where new friendships can be formed.”
