Sometimes all you need is a sign. For Hopkinton resident Jen Dadagian, it was down the road. “One day I started seeing signs outside of the HCA promoting their new ceramics program,” Dadagian said. “I think the stars aligned—HCA was just starting their program, and I was ready for a new challenge—so I signed up.” Working in the creative process at a regional branding and design agency, Dadagian is not new to the creative process. Yet for her, launching into pottery making was unchartered territory. “The creative and technical process need to come together—the goal is to improve in both areas with practice over time.” In fact, her work in hand building was recently awarded “most functional mug” in a student competition hosted by SKUTT at the National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts. Above all, Dadagian values how the studio is a place for everyone regardless of where they are on life’s journey and regardless of their ability. “The sense of community that’s been created over the last four years is undeniable. We talk about our families, our work, our worries. We share stories, laughs and celebrate our ceramic successes as they emerge from the glaze kiln.”
