TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE
20.13.1 RECOMMANDED LUBRICANTS:
10W or 10W 30 Grade mineral oils or automatic transmission fluids which meet at least one of the following specifications are allowable for use in ambient temperatures of between -20 and40 Deg. C :-
DEXRON III
The following lubricants meet these requirements :Transfluid III (Valvoline )
20.13.2 OPERATING TEMPERATURE : 85° - 90°C
In order to ensure a good lubrication and a good operating temperature, it is important to use the specified oil and to maintain the correct level.
Caution
To prevent a lack of lubrication in the transmission when towing the machine on long distances, it is recommended to uncouple the gear box out put shaft.
20.13.3 OIL AND FILTER CHANGING
It is recommended to change the oil at the following intervals:
Replace oil at every 1000 hour or 2 years ,whichever is earlier. – Replace the filter at every 500 hours or 1 year , whichever is earlier. – Always clean the strainer when changing the oil.
20.13.4 CAPACITY (GEAR BOX ONLY) : 15, 5 LTR
20.13.5 OIL LEVEL
The oil level must be checked with the engine idling and with the transmission oil cold. In this condition the oil level should fall between the Max and Min marks on the dipstick 1. At normal operating temperature, ( 80 Deg.C.) the oil level will rise to 20 - 30 mm above the Max. mark on the dipstick.
Do not overfill the transmission as this may result in oil breakdown due to excessive heat and aeration from the churning action of the gears. Early breakdown of the oil will result in heavy sludge deposits that block oil ports and build up on splines and bearings. Overfilling may also cause oil leaks.

20.14 PRESSURE CHECKING
– The transmission oil, should be at an approximate temperature of 80°C during pressure tests.
– The handbrake must be applied.
– All test ports have a 9 / 16” UNF thread.
A pressure gauge of 0-20 Bar minimum is necessary.
– Forward, reverse and 4WD clutch pack pressures should not be more than 1 bar lower than the oil pump pressure.
