ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs) Engine diagnostic trouble codes are displayed in the multi-function display screen. Diagnostic trouble codes are displayed as a two-part code: Suspect Parameter Number (SPN) and Failure Mode Identifier (FMI), as shown on the following table. The first part is a Suspect Parameter Number (SPN) followed by a Failure Mode Identifier (FMI). To determine the exact type of failure, both parts (SPN and FMI) of the code are needed. The SPN identifies the system or the component that has the failure; for example, SPN 000110 indicates a failure in the engine coolant temperature sensor.
The FMI identifies the type of failure that has occurred; for example, FMI 03 indicates a value above normal. Combining SPN 000110 with FMI 03 means the engine coolant temperature input voltage is too high. This example would display in the multi-function display as error code 000110-03. Always contact your servicing engine dealer for help in correcting the diagnostic trouble codes that are displayed for the engine. The fault code listing in the following tables are in ascending SPN/FMI codes.
