26. Inspect the carrier output shaft bearing. If damaged score with a die grinder and remove the bearing cage. Then score the bearing with a die grinder and break with a hammer and a chisel.

27. Use a pry bar to remove the face seal metal ring from the wheel hub shaft.
28. Inspect the bearing on the wheel hub shaft. If damaged score with a die grinder and remove the bearing cage. Then score the bearing with a die grinder and break with a hammer and a chisel. Heat the new wheel hub shaft outer bearing to 120 °C (248 °F) in a bearing oven. Install the new bearing on the wheel hub shaft until the new bearing is against the shoulder on the wheel hub shaft. NOTICE: always wear heat protective gloves to prevent burning your hand when handling heated parts.
29. Remove the six bolts from the return spring retainer.
