Remove the end shim from the brake housing

34. Remove the brake piston from the brake housing.
35. Remove from the brake housing: - the wear ring - the upper back - ring - the upper seal - the lower seal - the lower back ring.
36. Clean all parts, except the friction plates in brake disc pack, using cleaning solvent. Use compressed air clear passages in planetary ring gear and brake housing.
Inspect the bearing rollers, the bearing cage, the bearing cups and the bearings for damage. damaged, replace.
Check the planetary ring gear , the planetary gears and the planetary carrier for damage. necessary , replace.
Check the planetary carrier shaft and the wheel end shaft for damage. necessary replace. NOTICE: wear face protection when using compressed air . not use compressed air dry the bearings. Allow bear ings air dry . 37. Clean the face seal metal ring mounting surface and apply L OCTITE ® 574 .
Heat the face seal metal ring approximately 120 °C ( 248 °F ) and place the face seal metal ring the wheel end shaft. NOTICE: always wear heat protective gloves prevent burning your hand when handling heated parts.
