Malfunction and remedy
Malfunction Poor chop quality
Cause or remedy 1. Check chopper unit: • Check knives, if necessary grind or replace knives. • Check shear bar knife, replace if necessary. • Check adjustment of shear bar knives, correct adjustment if necessary. 2. Check speed setting between front attachment and forage harvester: • See Adjusting the rotation speed with one gearbox (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type 492, JAGUAR 880 - 820 Type 491), page 58 or • see Adjusting the rotation speed with two gearboxes (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type 492, JAGUAR 880 - 820 Type 491), page 60 or • see Adjusting the rotation speed with two gearboxes (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type 493), page 62. • If necessary replace 18-tooth sprocket with 17-tooth or 13-tooth sprocket – see 17-tooth and 13-tooth sprockets, page 65. 3. Check function of intake auger – see Intake auger spring tension, page 85. 4. Change length of cut if necessary. 5. Install knife support (order no. 090 620.1) in forage harvester.
