12. Malfunction and remedy

Malfunction Cause or remedy Poor chop quality 1.Check chopper unit: • Check knives, if necessary grind or replace knives. • Check shear bar knife, replace if necessary. • Check adjustment of shear bar knives, correct adjustment if necessary. 2.Check speed setting between front attachment and forage harvester: • See Adjusting the rotation speed with one gearbox (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type492, JAGUAR 880 - 820 Type491), page58 or • see Adjusting the rotation speed with two gearboxes (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type492, JAGUAR 880 - 820 Type491), page60 or • see Adjusting the rotation speed with two gearboxes (JAGUAR 900 - 830 Type493), page62. • If necessary replace 18-tooth sprocket with 17-tooth or 13-tooth sprocket –see 17-tooth and 13-tooth sprockets, page65. 3.Check function of intake auger –see Intake auger spring tension, page85. 4.Change length of cut if necessary. 5.Install knife support (order no. 090620.1) in forage harvester.
