8 Attaching and removing the front attachment

8.1 Mounting the maize header

DANGER!

Mounting the maize header may cause injury! –Make sure there is no-one between the forage harvester and the maize header. Always support the raised front attachment securely before working under it or on it. –see Safety support, page10. Only work on the front attachment with the drive and engine switched off. –Stop engine. –Remove the ignition key! –Switch off the battery master switch!

ATTENTION! If you attempt to attach the front attachment with the lock mechanism closed, this may damage the front attachment. –Before mounting the maize header ensure that the lock mechanism is open.

To mount the maize header proceed as follows: 1.Open the lock mechanism –see Unlocking, page37. 2.Hitch the front attachment –see Attaching the maize header, page38. 3.Close the lock mechanism –see Locking, page38. 4.Check that the front attachment is securely locked, if necessary set the lock mechanism –see Setting the lock mechanism, page39. 5.Connect the hydraulic hoses –see Hydraulic connections, page40. 6.Connect the power supply –see Connecting the power supply, page41. 7.Mount the drive shaft –see Installing the universal drive shaft, page41. 8.Set the lowering rate –see Setting the drop rate, page23.
