2 - SAFETY INFORMATION
When replacing a designated component, always check that the new component complies with all laws and regulations. For the sake of safety, use genuine CASE CONSTRUCTION parts. 10. If pressure oil soaks deep into your skin, this can cause serious injury. Always comply with necessary safety measures (protective clothes and protective gear for the face and hands) to avoid risk. Before using these products, read over the usage method in the operator's manuals for these products. If hydraulic oil soaks deep into your skin, contact a doctor immediately. 11. Coolant solution is toxic. Keep it away from your skin, eyes, and clothes. First aid: If it gets on your skin or clothes: Rinse it away with plenty of water. Take off any clothes with hydraulic oil on them. Ingested: Do not force vomiting. Rinse out your mouth thoroughly with plenty of water. Seek immediate medical attention. If it gets in your eyes: Wash it out with plenty of water, then seek immediate medical attention. 12. A shoe tension cylinder has high pressure inside. Adjust the shoe tension carefully according to the procedures in this manual. 13. Always receive permission from the manufacturer before welding on the undercarriage or upper structure and always follow the manufacturer's instructions. When performing work, disconnect the battery and alternator B+ and D+ terminals, then connect the ground cable for the welding equipment to the component being welded. Adjust the shoe tension carefully according to the procedures in this manual. When welding the upper structure, never connect the welding equipment to the undercarriage (or vise-versa). Never connect the welding equipment ground wire to a component of the hydraulic system. 14. When using compressed air, wear protective gear for the face. 15. Clean the machine periodically. If grease, dirt, or dust build up, they can cause damage to the machine and injuries to people. 16. As a part of the machine service plan, periodically inspect the fastening state of the main components of the counterweight, turntable bearing, and operator's compartment. If there is any problem, consult your CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer. 17. If the accumulator is not functioning normally, consult your CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer. Never perform service on the accumulator. Doing so could cause a serious accident. 18. The accumulator has nitrogen gas at high pressure sealed inside. Do not do welding work or use an open flame around the accumulator. 19. While the engine is running and immediately after it stops, high-pressure fuel remains in the fuel supply pipe. Stop the engine, then wait for 2 min for the pressure in the fuel supply pipe to drop before starting service. 20. While the engine is running and immediately after it stops, the computer or injector is charged with high voltage. Do not touch the computer or injector. If it is necessary to touch the computer or injector in order to service, consult your CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer.
Preventing fires or explosions 1. Engine fuel can cause an explosion or a fire. • Never refuel when the engine is running. • Never smoke while refuelling. • Take all necessary safety measures when welding, grinding or working near a naked flame. 2. Always use a non-inflammable solvent for cleaning parts. 3. A spark or a naked light can cause the hydrogen in a battery to explode. 2-6
