Davisson Family Enjoys Reunion
Buffet Tribute At Ellis Park
The next Evenings in Ellis is a Flip Flop Dave with a tribute to the music of Jimmy Buffet, on Friday, July 9. This adults-only (age 21+) poolside concert takes place at Gill Family Aquatics Center in Ellis Park. Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7. __________
Jim & Flory Phillips, married July 8, 1961, are celebrating their 60th Anniversary! They are Avon High School sweethearts. They describe themselves as two imperfect people who just didn’t give up on their marriage or each other. Jim likes working at Twin Bridges golf course and Flory enjoys being part the Gallery on the Square. They both feel the Danville community is the best! Family and friends bring them joy, along with wintering in Florida. ______________________________________________

Genealogy Nuts To Meet
On Monday, July 12, the Genealogy Nuts will meet at 1 p.m. Rose Ann Sigborn will discuss “How to Locate an Ancestor’s Actual Place of Birth.” Often the census and other historical sources do not have accurate birth information. Rose Ann will talk about how to prove where your ancestor was born using sources that are not often used by genealogists. Many of the sources are free! Currently, the Genealogy Nuts are holding hybrid meetings – both in person and virtual. If you wish to join us in person, registration is requested. Sign up on the DPL website at www.dplindiana.org. Go to the DPL events calendar link and click on Genealogy Nuts - In Person. Currently, we are allowing 30 people to join us in person. The weekend of June 26th and 27th was a very exciting time for the family of Oscar and Mary Kay Davisson. On Saturday afternoon, several members of the family gathered in Indianapolis for a coed baby shower to honor Ashley and Jimmy Sutton of Washington, Pennsylvania as they get ready to welcome the newest member of the Davisson family. That evening, Kathy and Elvin Ray Cassity hosted a meet-and-greet dinner in their home for those already in town for the weekend. After dinner, many from Florida enjoyed touring Putnam County to see the covered bridges. On Sunday, Oscar and Mary Kay’s children, many of their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren met at the Ellis Park Train Station for the first Davisson Family Reunion. All enjoyed a wonderful meal, games, reminiscing about good times, looking at old pictures, getting reacquainted, and meeting the newest members of the family. The Davisson children are Paul and Jan Davisson of Jupiter, Florida, Sue Teany (Bob passed away in 1987) of Clermont, Florida, Mary and Jeff Babbs of Indianapolis, Kathy and Elvin Ray Cassity of New Winchester, and Tom and Debbie Davisson of Mishawaka. The younger generations and their families came to the reunion from Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The Davisson Family moved to Danville in 1946 from Rensselaer. They resided on Jefferson Street originally and then spent many years on South Indiana Street. They were members of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Oscar and Mary Kay were both teachers. They moved to Okeechobee, Florida in 1994. Mary Kay passed away in 1996 and Oscar in 2012. They are buried together in Okeechobee. ______________________________________________________________________

The July First Friday Cruise In at Danville fell on the 2nd, but the crowd marked the 4th when the Star Spangled Banner was played and all turned to face the flags at the Memorial while the national anthem played. ______________________________________________

Hendricks County Humane Society’s Pet Food Pantry is still operating. You don’t have to be an existing Pet Food Pantry recipient - just call 317-7453338, answer some simple informational questions, and you can receive dog or cat food (& litter) as available. Arrangements will be made for pickup. The HCHS Pet Food Pantry is part of the County Food Pantry Coalition, and also participates in three Gleaners Mobile Food Pantry distributions. Improve Your Mood Support Group
Improve Your Mood Support Group meetings every Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hendricks County Senior Centerr, 2101 Sycamore Lane in Danville. Members have been gathering to learn about mindfulness and other coping techniques for symptoms of depression and anxiety. The Improve Your Mood Support Group is offered at no cost to anyone 25 years of age or older wishing to participate. No reservations are required to attend. The group is facilitated by Sharon Dora Samsell, Coordinator of Bereavement and Community Support Groups for Hendricks Regional Health. Transportation is available through Senior Services at 317-718-4474. If you would like to join us for lunch before the meeting, please call the Senior Center at least 24 hours in advance. Suggested donation is $3 for seniors 60 years old or older and their spouses. Hendricks County Senior Services is funded in part by United Way of Central Indiana, CICOA Aging and In-Home Services and the generous donations of individuals, businesses and community organizations.
