The Danville Plan Commission will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, May 12, at 7 p.m., concerning an ordinance to establish a Recreational Impact Fee (RIF). An impact fee is a fee imposed by a local government on a new or proposed development project to pay for all or a portion of the costs of providing public services to the new development. The RIF would be used for planning and financing Park & Recreation infrastructure in Danville. The meeting will take place inthe Council Meeting Room at Town Hall, 49 N. Wayne St., Danville. Written comments may be filed with the Plan Commsssion before the meeting. A copy of the proposed Recreation Zone Improvement Plan is available for public inspection at the Danville Town Hall located at 49 North Wayne Street, Danville, Indiana, or by visiting the Town of Danville’s website at www. danvilleindiana.org/parks. __________

At the County Track Meet on April 27, the Danville boys placed 2nd, and the Danville girls took 3rd. Alec Means won the 1600 and the 3200. CJ Collins won the high jump and broke the school record, which he had previously set, by jumping 6’7”. Congratulations to both Alec and CJ, as well as the entire Danville team! Congratulations also goes to Plainfield High School for both boys and girls teams becoming County Champs! Maggie Hine, of Danville, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Hine was initiated at Westmont College. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.
