The Magic of Camp –A Festival of Friends!
A chorus of song will ring out from the patio of Cardinal Lodge at Camp Shantituck in a few weeks Anyone within a hundred yards will hear the harmonious rounds, somber ballads, and silly songs with claps, stomps, and shouts.
Dozens of former camp counselors return to Camp Shantituck from every corner of the country every three years to celebrate our enduring friendships. We catch up with one another, reminisce about past adventures, and create new memories This festival of friends originated in the forests and meadows of Camp Shantituck over 50 years ago. Forged by campfires, polar bear swims, and platform tent pillow fights, our enduring friendships are the legacy of Girl Scout camp.
Fourteen summers ago, this group of former camp staff, realizing that Girl Scout camp had given them something special, created the Joyce Seymour Leadership Fund.
The Fund, named for their beloved camp director, spins off enough money each year to help hundreds of girls benefit from the Girl Scout camp experience. It makes us happy to know that future generations of girls will have the same opportunities we had to build life skills in the forest while forging forever friendships.
