Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place This is possible through activities, events, experiences, and community engagement. Girl Scouts rely on volunteers to guide them through the Girl Scout experience and give them the breadth and depth of knowledge and free will to try new things, continuously learning as they go.
Girl Scout volunteers rely on Girl Scout Kentuckiana (GSK) to provide support, programming, and remain dedicated to the Girl Scout mission
Supporting GSK is essential to ensure our Girl Scouts and volunteers have the necessary tools, training, and backing to be successful. As a volunteer, I need training from GSK to facilitate certain events such as archery, canoeing, kayaking, and physically engaging team building courses at our Girl Scout properties. GSK provides grade level training that helps new leaders guide their Girl Scouts through the Girl Scouting experience as they progress from Daisy to Ambassador, and earn awards Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Maintaining camp properties provides places throughout the GSK council for troops to go and participate in activities and events related to the outdoors. Maintenance of properties is not inexpensive but is essential to GSK daily operations and supporting Girl Scouts.
I listed only a few things that GSK does to support volunteers and Girl Scouts. We must remember every volunteer that receives support from GSK, impacts 5-10 (or more) Girl Scouts, because that is a leader setting the example and building Girl Scouts to be the best version of themselves Girl Scouts is an investment in our local youth population. We can support Girl Scouts individually by providing scholarship opportunities to specific planned events, or we can invest in the organization overall to impact volunteers to show up and have the resources they need (training, access to properties) that will multiply and impact many Girl Scouts.

2025 Older Girl Recognition Ceremonies
Older girls were recognized at the spring Older Girl Recognition Ceremonies in Elizabethtown, KY and Louisville, KY. These events celebrate and honor Girl Scouts who have earned the Gold Award, the Silver Award, and other prominent earned awards, such as the President’s Volunteer Service Award or the Congressional Award.
The ceremonies also honored Girl Scout Ambassadors who are graduating from high school, including those who have been awarded our council's Jean Cole Scholarship.
A heartfelt thank-you to the volunteers, mentors, and caring adults who supported these Girl Scouts on their journeys and helped make these special ceremonies possible.
We are so proud of our incredible older Girl Scouts! The world is better with you in it.
