In every village in the Norsjö district you can find a bakery cottage that is still in use. It was during the 19th century that the bakery cottages had their real breakthrough. Now it was possible to bake and prepare various foods in a simpler and more efficient way than before. Mostly, it was thin bread or round flatbread (mjukkaka) that was baked, depending on what ingredients were available or family traditions.

It sounds strange, but dress properly! Otherwise it is easy to get burned. Avoid synthetic materials.

There are about as many recipes for mjukkaka as there are families as most people developed their own, so if you do not have a family recipe, just try someone else's!
