Arena park

This multi-arena sports facility was opened

by HRH Crown Princess Victoria on 6 October 2017. There is a multi-arena for ball sports, a skate park, an obstacle course, an outdoor gym, a running track, a long jump pit and much more!

Floodlit trail

The floodlit trail adjacent to the stadium is soft and pleasant to run on during the summer months. Choose between 2.5 km, 4 km, 5 km, or 10 km. During the winter months, the floodlit trail serve as a ski trail. There are also floodlit trails in Bastuträsk, Bjurträsk, Båtfors, Kvarnåsen, Svansele, Norsjövallen, and Åmliden.

Indoor Ice rink

The ice rink is open to the public when not in use for school sports, training, games or camps. Information about public opening hours can be found on the Norsjö municipality website.

Indoor swimming pool

Exercise pool, children's pool and jacuzzi.

Refreshments can be purchased at the kiosk during public opening hours. The gym is downstairs. Construction of a new swimming pool in Norsjö District will soon commence and is scheduled to be completed by

Ski trails

In close proximity to the Norsjö Arena there are fine ski trails that are kept open as long as the weather permits. There is a shorter trail suitable for children or novices, as well as the 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km trails.

Gymnasium Disc golf

9-hole course located in the Norsjö Arena area.

The first hole is located right by the Norsjö swimming pool and gymnasium. Discs are available for rent at Norsjö native district area. You can also play disc golf in Bastuträsk.

Indoor Football court

The football court is located in the southern part of Norsjö Arena, directly adjacent to the ice rink. The playing surface of the hall consists of artificial grass and is 30x60 metres.

The gymnasium in Norsjö is the home arena for the Norsjö Volleyball Club, but is also used for school sports and private events.

Activity house

In the activity house you can enjoy yourself, the kids, grandma & grandpa at the same time. There is a golf and shooting simulator and two bowling alleys.

FISHING The municipality of Norsjö consists of almost 400 lakes and waterways, so there are plenty of fishing waters to explore. In the district we have one of Sweden's largest and most active sport fishing associations. They organise several major competitions each year, attracting both national and international guests. Fishing permits are available at several locations around the municipality. These include OKq8, Ica Björks in Kusfors, Fromhedens and Rännudden Camping. You can also contact the responsible fishing association directly. In the top left corner you will find a QR code, If you scan or click on it you will get more information about the local fishing.

The annual sun holiday, which Floriane's parents insisted on going on, was not something Flo was looking forward to. She wanted to go to Lapland!

As soon as she was old enough and had enough money, she took matters into her own hands.

First she moved to Iceland where she worked as a tour guide. But the desire for the small-scale and genuine grew stronger and so it was time to move again, this time to Svansele.

Norsjö, according to legend, was founded by Erich the One-Eyed around 1470? It was not until 1811 that Norsjö got its first church and the inhabitants of the village no longer had to go to Skellefteå to fulfil their church duties.

the very first Vasalopp winner Ernst Alm was from Hemmingen, Norsjö? In fact, the following year's winner was also from Norsjö.

His name was Oskar Lindberg.

in 1900 a man died from the effects of a meteorite strike in Kvavisträsk, Norsjö? Until 2016, it was the only known death from meteorite strikes in the world. The crater still exists in Kvavisträsk, or Qwaas as it is more commonly known here in the district.

the author Stieg Larsson spent his first 9 years in Måggliden, Norsjö? In his Millenium book series, part of the events actually take place in Norsjö.

Skiers' district

m

The Norsjö district has for a number of decades produced a large number of successful skiers. Olympic and World Cup medallists, around 15 Swedish Champions and three Vasalopp winners belong to this victorious group. The first Vasalopp winner Ernst Alm, the second Vasalopp winner Oskar Lindberg, the cross-country skier Mauritz Brännström, also known as The Norsjö Bear, and the Olympian Gold medallist Martin Lundström are some of these great skiers.

Ern st Al This Swedish skiing history is on display at the Norsjö Ski Running Museum, which is located in the Native District in Norsjö town. It shows the development of skiing in the Norsjö district, from a forestry background via village and national competitions to national team assignments.

The exhibitions show, among other things, the skiers' childhood environments, training conditions, equipment, ski and wax production. Here you can listen to classic Sven Jerring speeches, smell home-cooked wax in a seasoned wax shop, admire prize collections and sigh nostalgically in front of the classic white national team uniform.

Norsjö Native District In the summer, the Norsjö Native District is full of activity. Here you will find the Hunting Museum, the Skiing Museum, various photo exhibitions and a summer café. Etiquette in the bakery cottage

In every village in the Norsjö district you can find a bakery cottage that is still in use. It was during the 19th century that the bakery cottages had their real breakthrough. Now it was possible to bake and prepare various foods in a simpler and more efficient way than before.

Mostly, it was thin bread or round flatbread (mjukkaka) that was baked, depending on what ingredients were available or family traditions.

Never baked before?

Ask the local association for help.

Find out what applies when you are baking. Need your own firewood or tools?

•

It sounds strange, but dress properly! Otherwise it is easy to get burned. Avoid synthetic materials.

•

Drink lots of water!
