Project Updates
Brought To You By Tony Abbo
Good news staff, a few projects that we have been working on are complete or are very close to being completed. They are as follows:
Bids for the construction of a HAWK pedestrian signal at 59 Avenue and Evergreen Road were opened on Thursday July 24, 2025 AJP was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $469,001.55. Pending a review of the bid proposal, it is anticipated that the construction contract will be taken to council by late August or beginning of September and we can see work start later this fall. th
The Hawk at 67 Avenue and Montebello Avenue should be operational within the next 3-4 weeks. SRP is currently working on providing power to the signal.
The City is also moving on the reconstruction of 75 Avenue between the Aspera Boulevard and Deer Valley Road intersection. The City is targeting to have the design complete and out to bid by January or February of 2026 The city received state appropriation for the project in the amount of $3,000,000.
The City has another project on 75 Avenue between Glendale Avenue and Northern Avenue that will be put out to bid by the end of this year.
More to come next month, so stay tuned

Back To School Safety
When you see a school bus slowing down or stopping, it’s not just the bus that you need to have your eyes on – but the surrounding area too. Children wait at least several feet away from a bus and often cross the street when they’re boarding or getting off the bus. This is why you must stop for school buses, and don’t attempt to pass.
Work Zone Safety
According to ADTSEA, over 100 road construction workers are killed in construction zones each year. Nearly half of these workers are killed as a result of being struck by motor vehicles.
Work Zone Safety
In work zones, traffic may be controlled by a person with a sign or flag to tell you which direction to travel, to slow down or stop. You must follow these instructions.
Barriers, such as drums, cones and tubes (panels) are used to keep traffic out of hazardous work zones. Along with signs and road markings, they guide you safely through the work zone. Barriers may be used to keep drivers from entering closed roads or other areas where it is dangerous to drive. Temporary traffic signals may be used in work zones. You may see a warning sign showing a symbol of a traffic signal. Stop at the white line, if present.
