New Skid Steer Tra
ADA Ramp Repair on 83 Avenue & Gle
We recently purchased a skid steer tractor along with various attachments. One of the attachments, a planer, allows us to smooth down asphalt ridges As vehicles turn corners, their tires push the asphalt toward the curb and gutter, creating bumps at the base of accessible ramps These bumps pose a tripping hazard for pedestrians and cause difficulties for those using mobility devices
On February 20, 2025, our streets crew responded to a Glendale One work order. The constituent was concerned about the asphalt on the radius at the northwest corner of Glendale Avenue and 83 Avenue, where it meets the concrete on the ADA ramp. The asphalt had been pushed up, creating a bump that hindered wheelchair access and posed a tripping hazard. Our streets crew went out to mill (grind) down the raised asphalt, using the new skid steer tractor, leveling it with the concrete. The surface now provides a smooth transition from the asphalt to the ADA ramp.

Sidewalk Infill
The Transportation Department continues to make progress towards the long-term goal of closing all gaps in the Glendale sidewalk network Using the annual budget allocated to the Sidewalk Infill Program, construction was recently completed to install missing sidewalk at three locations:
Union Hills Road and 55 Avenue: Sidewalk, curb ramps, and driveways were recently completed along the north side of Union Hills Road.
75 Avenue at Grovers Avenue: Sidewalk and new ADA compliant curb raps were constructed to provide safer pedestrian connection across Grovers Avenue on the east side of 75 Avenue 53 Avenue south of Peoria Avenue: Sidewalk and driveway were constructed along the east side of 53 Avenue to provide a safer connection from the neighborhood to Peoria Avenue and the adjacent church
The Sidewalk Infill Program is expected to continue to close gaps in Glendale’s sidewalk network in FY2026.
