Introduction to our 2023/24 Programme Design Wellbeing is your apprentices and Graduates ability to feel good and function effectively (in positive psychology terms “Thriving”) as they navigate the highs and lows of life at Nestle and their wider lives (in positive psychology terms “Struggles”).

Positive psychology research studies and shown that people who are “constantly thriving” and those who are “living well despite struggles” are more likely to report higher levels of individual team workplace performance, Engagement and satisfaction. Often those “living well despite struggles” show the most resilience.

The PERMAH wellbeing model looks at the key elements that support “thriving” or living well despite struggles” and outlines the key ingredients that will help apprentices and graduates succeed. Some of these elements outlined in the next slide are organisational factors (training, purposeful work etc) but many are behaviours that can be taught or fostered.

Our proposed programme looks at how we can foster these behaviours and also measure how engaged the cohorts are using the Permah Wellbeing survey. This survey will allow Nestle to measure the overall wellbeing (and engagement) of the cohort but also provide each apprentice and graduate with an individual report helping them to identify how they can thrive.

This proposal builds on content we have preciously delivered and adds in new content and delivery approaches to create an engaging and fun programme that aims to support everyone in Nestle early careers to thrive or live well.

This Masterclass introduces new joiners to the concept of thriving at work and positive psychology.

We will introduce the PERMAH model and explore the P of PERMAH which is having Positive Emotions and look at tools to boost these as well as deal with negative emotions such as pre-join anxiety and worries

This Masterclass looks at what is mental health and how our minds work . It dives deeper into positive psychology and the how we can manage our minds every day to be happier healthier and more productive.

PLAYING TO YOUR STRENGTHS MASTERCLASS

This Masterclass looks at the human performance curve and explores the role of stress in driving optimal performance. We look at how to pick up on signs of stress and practice techniques for dealing with stress in the moment

This Masterclass will use the “viacharacter strengths finder” questionnaire. To explore participants strengths and we will look at how to use them to become more effective in your work and personal life.

This Masterclass looks at what is resilience and how we can build our tolerance to stress and bounce back quicker from adversity. We explore the important role of mindset in becoming resilient and also look at how we can put practices in place every day that will build our resilience

Measuring success PERMAH Workplace Wellbeing report

We are proposing undertaking a wellbeing survey with all apprentices and graduates that will allow you to measure the impact of this programme and the Nestle driven induction and development activities on the cohort’s wellbeing,engagement and performance The survey will look provide a cohort level report with areas of strength and areas to focus on. It will show the following; • • •

How your cohort compares to external benchmarks What proportion of cohort are Living well despite struggles, Thriving,really struggling and Getting by What areas can be worked on to improve wellbeing and performance

Each individual will also receive their own report allowing them to identify areas they can boost their own wellbeing and perform at their best.
