Tak is in bed.
When he is about to fall asleep, he hears some sneaky noise. -What noise could this be, Tak asks himself.
-I can clearly hear something. (eitt-hvert; greini+lega; note: eitthvert is neuter acc. sing. as is þrusk)
Now, Tak sees one big white eye. -Could this be a one-eyed space ghost ? Tak says.
(ein-eygður;
geim-draugur)
It is safer to hide under the bed.
Tak now sees that this is the Burglar-alien.
Burgly aims the torch beam at the bed, and sees that nobody is there (/it is empty).
(inn-brota-geim-vera)
Burgly
opens Tak‘s
drawer. (inn-broti)
There Burgly finds a bone which has a cork in one end, but he does not know that there is a ghost inside the bone. -Here are some precious things kept, for sure, Burgly says. (sauða-leggur; á-reiðan+lega; verð-mæti) Note: (+) means suffix, (-) means compound word
.
As soon as Burgly removes the cork, the ghost rushes out of the bone. -I like the darkness, says the ghost.
(skemmti+legur)
Burgly runs towards the window and screams: -HELP ! A GHOST ! What ? -He
is
asking
a
ghost
to help
him,
the ghost thinks.
(draugur pronounced: dreu-g-eurr, --with accent on the first syllable as always in Icelandic-hva = hvað)
Burgly gets caught in the curtain when he jumps out of the window. (glugga-tjald w. definite article glugga-tjaldið

Burgly
and laughs
a spooky ghost laughter. -Ho
ho ho ho
! Burgly
screams
out: -Help,
a
ghost ! Help, police, help ! (drauga-hlátur; dimmum draugahláti er/is tækisfall / instrumentalis case of draugahlátur lög-regla)
-What ? says one of the space policemen. -Do we need to arrest ghosts ? -Oh yes, if they are scaring people.
(geim-lögga -
lögga is short for lögregla (lög-regla))
When the ghost hears this, he stops chasing Burgly.
But the police think that Burgly is the ghost and start chasing him.
(draugsi = cute name for draugur)
