Decorating with Precision at Precision Decorating BY DENISE HEIDEL wants, needs, and expectations, and then making it happen. We take tremendous pride in doing the job right, and hearing the ‘thank yous’ at the end gives us the satisfaction that we made someone happy… perhaps even helped them fall in love with their home all over again!” Additionally, Precision Decorating encourages their designers to become licensed general contractors, giving them an advantage in the marketplace. “We have on our team, professionals who speak the language of construction,” said Bobbie. “That is a skill that earns us the respect of those who are doing the labor, as well as the appreciation of the family for whom we are doing the work. We can help bridge the communication gap between industry-specific terms that may be unfamiliar to those in the general market.”

When you think of interior designers, you may immediately think HGTV and a glamorous life built on coordinating pretty things. But a true interior designer knows there is so much more, including behind-the-scenes details that are often ignored or overlooked. Interior designers must be highly proficient in math – to measure spaces and re-engineer the configurations of a room. They must know how to calculate not only the square footage for a flooring project, but all the components needed on the under side, including grout, caulk, and screws. They even need to know and understand the inner mechanics of a house, including electrical and plumbing. It is fair to say that an interior designer is like an orchestra director: they may not play all the instruments, but they know how they are supposed to sound and how to make them work together. There are four professional interior designers at Precision Decorating and for them, decorating isn’t just a job, it’s

a calling. For instance, Kelly Lael, one of the team’s designers, was practically born into it since her mother and stepfather are the owners of the business. “As a little girl, I loved to rearrange my room and redecorate,” remembered Kelly. “I have done this all my life, and I can’t imagine anything else! My colleagues have similar stories; you don’t do this for a living if it isn’t rooted in passion.” Based in a 10,000 square foot showroom in Winston-Salem, Precision Decorating has, for over 40 years, subscribed to a simple business model: partner with every homeowner, no matter the scope or size of their project, from conception to completion. From lighting to electrical work, plumbing to decorating, Precision Decorating provides clients a seamless process from start to finish. Owners Jim and Bobbie Strader concurred. “For us,” shared Bobbie, “There is nothing as rewarding as listening to our clients describe their

Anyone who is in home repair and home decorating knows that a good episode on HGTV may inspire a DIY project. But even experienced DIY’ers may find a home repair project daunting, especially since those shows make things looks effortless. If they aren’t prepared on the front end, costly mistakes can happen. “We hate to see someone waste both their time and money on a project that isn’t done right, so even if someone is determined to go the DIY route, they can come to our showroom to order materials, and we’ll make sure they get everything they need to do the job! And if they need us, we’ll step in and help,” said Jim. We invite you to stop in and meet our designers, Anna Sheek, Ellen Dominique, Lisa Allen, and Kelly Lael. These amazing women are all incredibly gifted and talented decorators, and each possesses the ability to transform your vision into reality. They are all happy to sit down, share a cup of coffee, and hear what you have in mind for your home. Precision Decorating is located at 2701 Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
