Greetings I hope everyone has had a wonderful fun-filled summer! Community Education welcomes you back with many opportunities to get involved and learn. Community Education supports the love of learning.

The Youth Expo will be held Tuesday September 17th from 5:30-7:00pm at the High School Gym. This year’s theme is ‘Disney and Superheros’ and there will supper available again. Come and enjoy the fun! The goal of this event is to showcase all the great opportunities our community has to offer families. We want to give our families every opportunity to choose positive activities that will foster their growth and the continued growth of a healthy community.

Thank you to all the students, parents, instructors, staff, and community members for all the support. Community Education strives for continuous improvement and works each day to not only to improve current offerings but to build new offerings. If you have any suggestions please let us know!

MEA FUN Holiday Arts & Craft Workshop, Gr 2+ Holiday Workshop is a crafting day with both simple and advanced projects for school age youth. Some of this year’s crafts may include: Beaded Icicle, Holiday Cards, Sock Puppet, Star Beaded Hanging Ornament, Cork Reindeer, Cookie Decorating, Wood Snowman, Sock Snowman and more.

There are lots of great crafts to choose from. PLUS we have an artist coming to do a neat sculpture. Class includes 5 craft projects and a snack. Come for a day of fun! Let’s cook and learn! We will be learning about various vegetables and their health properties all while preparing our own meal. Christmas Cookies Cookoff, Gr K-8 Food Service Staff

It’s time to get baking....Christmas Cookies that is! Learn how to mix the ingredients, roll out the dough, cut out and bake yummy Christmas cookies! Bring your favorite cookie cutter to share and a rolling pin. Students will get to decorate their own cookies to take home. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, personal safety and healthy living. This course helps prepare children for staying at home alone. Babysitter Training, Ages 11+ Emergency Outfitters

This course follows the American Academy of PediatricsBabysitter Lessons and Safety Trainings (BLAST). Students will learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems and how to manage their babysitting business.

Students will receive a reference book, recipe and game handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Please bring snacks.

Classroom Driver Education, Ages 15+ A-Z Drivers Instruction

This course, sponsored by Community Education and A - Z Drivers Instruction from Foley MN, provides 30 hours of classroom drivers training. The course meets the requirements to obtain a driving permit. Students must be 15 in order to take the permit test. Attendance at all 30 hours of the class is required. Behind the Wheel instruction can be contracted on an individual basis with A - Z Drivers Instruction. The $20 Community Education fee is due with registration. One Act Play, Gr 6-9 Who needs several acts in a play when just one will do? Try your theatrical hand at a short but sweet production. The title has yet to be determined but there is sure to be a role perfect for you. Tryouts are the first day and rehearsals begin the second day.

Virtual Reality Experience, Ages 7 & Up

Check out the new and exciting world of Virtual Reality! This event will include a wide variety of virtual reality systems ranging from a $15 Google Cardboard which works with your cell phone to display simple virtual experiences, all the way up to a powerful, $2,000 Oculus Rift system which brings visually stunning and immersive worlds to life, and everything in between! Better yet, bring the family along and watch each other’s stunned reactions and amazement with each new virtual encounter. There will also be a tennis ball shooting, remote control robot for you or the kids to drive while you’re not wearing or watching the virtual reality systems! Tae Kwon Do with Evolution Tae Kwon Do Lil’ Kickers Tae Kwon Do, Age 4-6 This program is designed as a precursor to regular Tae Kwon Do classes for young children. The material is presented in fun and exciting formats to keep the child interested and excited while teaching them important physical and behavioral skills to develop good habits early in life. Please wear comfortable clothing. A white belt test to earn a uniform will be given after 1 month of lessons and costs $40. Children will be eligible for additional belt testing after 3 months of lessons. More information about these options will be given in class.

Boys Basketball Fall League, Gr 5-6 Nathan Larison Learn fundamental skills, drills, games, plays and contents currently being used by the Foley boys basketball program and traveling teams. The schedule of games in late November and early December will be distributed at practice. Jerseys for games are provided. We rely on parents to help and will only have as many teams as coaches. Each student will also receive a t-shirt to keep. The schedule of Saturday games in late November and early December will be distributed at practice. Jerseys for games are provided. Each student will also receive a t-shirt to keep. Coaches are needed for these teams. We rely on parents to help and will only have as many teams as coaches. Coaches may arrange one evening practice time per week in the fieldhouse. Players will be placed on teams to ensure equity and placement requests are not accepted. Falcon Basketball Association Travel Ball Gr 7-8

Are you looking to continue playing basketball through the remainder of the winter? Falcon Basketball Association Travel Ball is the solution. The season runs from the end of the Fall Leagues listed above to approximately March.

These teams will practice at least once a week and play in at least 5 tournaments. This will be more competitive than the Fall League and a great way to continue the development of your child’s skills.

Are you looking basketball that will play the opposite season of the School Basketball and allow your child to play basketball through the remainder of the winter? Falcon Basketball Association Travel Ball is the solution. The season will run through March but will work around the school ball season.

These teams will practice at least once a week when school ball isn’t in session and play in at least 4 tournaments. This will be a great way to continue the development of your child’s skills.

NFL FLAG Football League, Gr 1-6 Boys/Girls In NFL Flag Football, boys and girls in 1st through 6th grade will enjoy learning the ins and outs of a national pastime just like Peyton and Eli Manning did as children. In this NFL sponsored league, players will play 5 on 5 games. Interested parent volunteers will be asked to coach.

Foley Falcon Archery: Beginners Gr 3-12 This class will help students learn eye dominance, range rules, safety rules, fundamentals of archery and scoring using Genesis Bow equipment. All equipment is provided. This class is for archers who DID NOT participate on the Falcon Archery Team this past year. There are only 14 spots in each section! Class Fee: $30 Mon • Sep 16-Oct 7 • FIS Cafeteria Session 1: 6:00-6:45pm Session 2: 7:00-7:45pm

Foley Falcon Archery Team, Gr 3-12 Take your student to the next level in Archery Competition! We will be competing against other schools in traveling leagues!

Using GENESIS BOW EQUIPMENT ONLY, as to follow with NASP State rule guidelines. Practice times are at least twice a week.

This class fee is a package fee. The package includes the cost of instructors, equipment, maintenance, up to 7 tournaments and a shooter t-shirt. PLEASE NOTE: New archers will begin practice the week of Nov 25. Returning archers will begin practice the week of Dec 2. Students are asked to come twice a week for an hour each visit, practice time preferences will be taken and a schedule or sign-up sheets made. All registration will be done during the Parent Meetings. Please note there will be limited spots left for new archers. A waiting list will be created as needed. Players will be introduced to tackle football fundamentals. Please wear athletic shoes (no cleats), dress for the weather and purchase a jersey if you do not have one. Mouth guards will be provided.

Falcon Junior Pep Squad, Gr 4-6 Boys/Girls

We got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how ‘bout you? Join the new Falcon Pep Squad and show your school spirit. This squad will meet together to learn new chants and cheers, make signs and posters, and assist with a variety of seasonal sport activities. We will bave 3 sessions (fall,winter and spring) 4 squad practices and various sporting events we will attend as a squad. Pep squad teams will be allowed free entrance to all sports events that the pep squad performs at. What a great way to support our Falcon team!! Bounce Back Project of Foley will provide a snack and drink at each opening session and share more lessons of resilience with the squad each practice, while promoting health through happiness! Fall Dance Club, Gr 7-12 Whether you want to stay active during the fall season, or you’ve wanted to try dance out but don’t have time during the winter season, Fall Dance team is starting soon! Come learn a some skills, hang out with your friends, and learn a dance to perform at this year’s homecoming football game! This club is open to dancers grades 7-12. You do not have to participate in the winter team to join but it will also be a great opportunity to get your foot in the door if you are planning to join someday.

Falconettes’ Mini Me Dance Camp, Gr K-5 Come learn a dance with the Foley Falconettes Dance Team!

Join a few members of the Falconettes dance team as they teach you a dance routine to perform for the fans at a home football game! Plus get a t-shirt to bring home! Dancers should arrive at 7:00pm on October 17th to prepare for the performance. Join family, neighbors and friends on Thanksgiving evening at the fieldhouse to get some exercise and have fun after that huge turkey dinner! Play basketball or volleyball or come to walk or run on the track. Baby strollers are allowed for this event. No footballs please and all fieldhouse rules still apply.

Fall volleyball camp is for girls and boys grade K-6. Players will learn the basic skills of volleyball. Camp will be ran by both coaches and high school volleyball players. Golf For Beginners (SNAG), Ages 5-12 Doug Dahl SNAG - Starting New At Golf - is a creative way to introduce new players to the game of golf. SNAG is simple, effective, inexpensive, and most of all fun! The program is designed specifically for newcomers: kids of all ages who have had very little or no exposure to golf. SNAG uses special equipment, all provided by the instructor, to teach the fundamentals of golf.

Professionals will share their aviation journeys, why they chose aviation as a profession and how to pursue various aviation careers. This session is interactive and time for Q & A is provided. A brand new “boxing for fitness” program for seniors over 55 and individuals with Parkinson’s Disease can now be a part of the infamous Rock Steady Boxing program now offered at the St. Cloud Boxing & Wrestling Club. Individuals will partake in non-contact boxing drills to help regain motor skills, balance, and coordination through a variety of different exercises of punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts, and even having some glove-to-glove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, and bobbing & weaving will all be a part of helping the individuals to focus, be attentive, and get in shape as well! Instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson’s Center of Park Nicollet.

Boxing gloves will be provided as well as walkers, canes, and wheelchairs to assist those that need support when standing. You will be standing on wrestling/foam mats on the floor, wear light shoes.
