Every year the your association proudly celebrate your annual big event which is the crowning of your Little Miss Philippines. Many of your previous queens have emerged into adulthood and have made their mark in our society all of them symbolizing the modern Filipina. They represent all of us: our culture, traidition and aspirations as we live in this land that we quickly embraced as our own. They are not only Filipinas but they too are Americans and their future looks certainly bright. The officers of the ICAGP have steered the association through good times and bad times; but you were always blessed with leaders who are strong, forthright and steadfast. These are the people that have set the standards for the future of your organization. As we celebrate this big event tonight, let me congratulate personally in behalf of my family and the officers of the Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia and its 25-member associations; the proud parents of Sydney Marie Niemala; John and Evangeline Niemala who worked very hard to support the progressive and community-oriented goals of the ICAGP. Friends, Guest, Ladies and Gentlemen. MAGANDANG GABI SA INYONG LAHAT! NAIMBAG NGA RABII YO AMIN APO. Good evening! On behalf of the officers and members of the Ilocano Cultural Association of Greater Philadelphia, it is a great privilege to welcome you to our annual Little Miss Philippines Coronation pageantry. This event has always been a special part of our association's agenda to continually promote and showcase our rich cultural heritage, beautiful customs and diverse traditions. For so many years, we have engaged in various community programs here and in the Philippines, by giving donations to charitable organizations, supporting health entities in providing needed services to our community and participating in medical missions in our country of birth. Our community involvement and awareness is limitless. We have wholeheartedly supported projects and other worthwhile endeavors. Our membership is no longer limited to those with Ilocano heritage but to all who support our cause. We will remain positive in our purpose and continue to strive for growth in our community involvement, in order to make a difference in the lives of others especially our elderly, underprivileged, needy and disabled constituents. Let us all send a message of courage, faith, hope and love as a compassionate team to show them that we really care and determined to pursue our agenda. On behalf of the officers and members of this association, I wish to extend our thanks, gratitude and appreciation to Mrs. Geri Lampago and Inigo Families, the grandparent and parents respectively of last year's Little Miss Philippines, Vanessa Lauren L. Inigo., to our advertisers and supporters who have endlessly contributed to the success of our yearly socio-cultural event and upon whose tremendous assistance and efforts have helped us to accomplish our goals and objectives. My special thanks and gratitude to all the hard working officers and members whose continuous dedication and endless energy have significantly brought meaning and recognition to our annual Little Miss Philippines Last but not the least, please allow me to congratulate our incoming queen, Ms. Sydney Marie Niemala, Little Miss Philippines 2013.. Sydney Marie Niemala Sydney was born on January 20, 2001, in Falls Church, Virginia to her parents, John and Evangeline Niemala. Today she lives in South Riding, Virginia with her parents and her younger brother, Cameron, who is 10 years old. She also has a cute little Shih Tzu named Reese. As a young lady, Sydney’s interests and hobbies are numerous. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, going to the movies and concerts, listening to music, shopping or simply posting on Instagram. She has always been interested in trying new things and can be described as fearless, as she began gymnastics and dance when she was only 5 years old. When she turned 7, she ventured out and joined the neighborhood swim team as well as a competitive cheerleading squad. Sydney is currently preparing to enter the 7th grade next year and is excited by the upcoming challenges. Today she continues to swim for the Stingrays in two meets a week and is regularly tossed high in the air as a flyer for her cheerleading team at Cheer Tyme. Sydney’s days are filled with joy and laughter as well as hard work and dedication to her teams and friends. However, Sydney cherishes her family the most. She is excited and honored to represent her family and heritage as the Little Miss Philippines 2013. Sydney would like to welcome and thank everyone involved in this wonderful association and wish you all the best for the upcoming year!
