MESSAGE Four years ago I presented myself before you and you gave me the overwhelming mandate to become your President. It was not an easy task: I was never involved in politics and all of a sudden I found myself navigating through unchartered waters of managing the affairs that involved 25 member associations and how to put them all in place as we work together to move forward with a concerted effort to serve our Filipino-American and local communities. Tonight, thanks for all the hard work and the support of member association, I am happy to tell you that our Council, which is a federation of 25 member associations had much progress to report. Not only that: our Council is stronger than ever. One interesting thing that I have learned is: Politics makes as rivals for power but working together inside our Council made us partners for progress; and we did just that in my first 2 years which you reconfirmed when you gave me another 2 years to serve our people. The bickering, the useless argumentations that we have experienced in our meetings are not so important as to the need to advance our cause and the need for a united Executive Council. Let us put them aside and hold hands with the conviction that we can do more than what we all have done in the past 4 years. I could not have done it without your support and I am deeply grateful. As I wind up my Presidency all I can say is: It felt so good to have served you all and our community and keeping the faith that our Council will always be in good hands to move further in the promotion of the very ideals that the founders of our Executive Council have so eloquently engraved in their hearts. Let me end my time tonight with the thought that our Executive Council only works when we accept upon ourselves the obligations to one another and to our future Filipino-American generations, that our progress is woven with one another as a community and our hope that our next crop of leaders will be authors and writers of the next exciting chapters of our history as the Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia. Maraming Salamat. God bless you all. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. Mabuhay ang Amerika. Mabuhay tayong lahat!

Mabuhay from, Lara Angelica De Dios Mabanta Bb. Pilipinas 2013 and Family

Being Bb. Pilipinas 2013 has been a truly rewarding experience. I have learned so much about the history of my home country with the many events I’ve been honored to attend to this past year. From boarding the U.S.S. Olympia and learning about Commander Dewey at the Battle of Manila Bay to celebrating Filipino Independence Day at the annual picnic and learning about the Bataan Death March and a great hero – Jose Rizal. This past year has opened my eyes to the Filipino culture. As Bb. Pilipinas 2013, I have been able to connect with my heritage even while at school at Boston. I have joined a Filipino student group and I able to share my culture with other FilipinoAmericans my age.

I extend a heartfelt gratitude to my friends and family for all the support they have given me this past year, to my parents who have raised me, always keeping my Filipino heritage present throughout my whole life and giving me endless support, and to Mrs. Hermie Aczon, President of FECGP, who has guided me, been a wonderful role model to me this past year, and given me this amazing opportunity. Maraming salamat po! God bless! Lara Angelica Mabanta Binibining Pilipinas 2013

And summoning as witness of the rectitude of our intentions, the Supreme Judge of the Universe, and under the protection of the Mighty and Humane North American Nation, we proclaim and solemnly declare in the name of and by the authority of the inhabitants of all these Philippine Islands, thot. they are and have a right to be free and independent; that they are released from all obedience to the crown of Spain; that every political tie between the two is and must be completely severed and annulled; and that like all free and independent states, they have complete authority to make war, conclude peace, establish treaties of commerce, enter into alliances, regulate commerce, and execute all other acts and things that independent States have the right to do. Reposing firm confidence in the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge for the support of this declaration our lives, our fortunes, and our most sacred possession, which is our honor. We acknowledge, approve and confirm, together with the orders that have been issued therefrom, the Dictatorship established by Don Emilio Aguinaldo, whom we honor as the Supreme Chief of the nation, which this day commences to have a life of its own, in the belief that he is the instrument selected by God, in spite of his humble origin, to effect the redemption of this unfortunate people, as foretold by Doctor Jose Rizal in the magnificent verses which he composed when he was preparing to be shot, liberating them from the yoke of Spanish domination in punishment of the impunity with which their Government allowed the commission of abuses by its subordinates; and for the unjust execution of said Rizal and others who were sacrificed to please the greedy body of friars in their insatiable desire to seek revenge upon and exterminate all those who are opposed to their Machiavellian purposes, which tramples upon the penal code prescribed for these islands; and for the sake of these persons who, though merely suspected, where convicted by the Commanders of the detachments at the instigation of the friars without form or semblance of a trial and without spiritual consolation afforded by their sacred religion.

Congratulations to Zan Dimapilis Bongiovi Bb. Pilipinas 2014 of FECGP! and to the Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia

Greetings from: Katrina Guerrero Bb. Pilipinas 2012 And the Guerrero Family

Zan Dimapilis Bongiovi Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Zan is beyond excited and honored to have the privilege of representing The Filipino Executive Council this year during The Philippine Independence Events. She is sixteen years old, a sophomore in high school, and resides in New Jersey with her parents Betty and Ray and her sister Michaela. Her mother is Filipina and her father is Italian and English. It is her dream to someday visit all the countries of her parents’ origins. Zan is a conscientious student who excels academically and has been on the High Honor Roll every marking period in high school where she takes honor and AP classes. When she is not in school, Zan is extremely involved in the entertainment industry, whether it is dancing, singing, modeling or acting. She initially got started in the entertainment industry by competing in regional and national dance competitions and then she decided to pursue it on a professional level. As a professional she has performed in numerous venues in New York City, New York and Los Angeles, California. She has also performed in several venues throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Miami, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Zan has performed on television shows such as David Letterman, Kelly and Michael, MTV, Oxygen Channel and she has modeled on various televised fashion shows. She has also been televised dancing during the halftime shows at professional basketball games for the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. As an actress, Zan was in the Paramount Pictures movie “The Last Airbender” which played in movie theatres nationally and internationally. She has modeled on the cover of teen novels, dance catalogs, clothing, hair, and cosmetic advertisements for various brands. Zan has performed live on stage dancing and singing at venues in New York City such as Madison Square Garden, Times Square Hard Rock Café, Hammerstein Ballroom, Webster Hall, Gramercy Theatre, and Symphony Space on Broadway just to name a few. She performed in the “Let’s Move! Move Your Body Campaign” for The First Lady Michelle Obama and Beyonce. She also performed at Arthur Ashe Kids Day which was also hosted by Michelle Obama. She has shared the stage with celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Lohanthony, Midnight Red, Bella Thorne, Mindless Behavior, Alyson Stoner, Michelle Trachtenberg, Jake Miller, SPObabbby, Kalin and Myles, Enrique Iglesias, R5, Nick Tangorra, Taio Cruz, Sugar Hill Gang and many more. As a sixteen year old Zan is excited for what her future holds. For now, she truly loves the entertainment industry but knows the importance of continuing to excel academically. She receives her professional dancing, singing and acting training in New York City where she also finds time to assist teaching at dance workshops. On her free time she loves nothing more than spending time with family, especially with her sister Michaela who is also just as involved in the entertainment industry and can be seen dancing, modeling, acting, and singing in national advertisement campaigns. Zan and Michaela embrace their Filipina heritage and love learning about the Filipino culture from their Lolo Rey and Lola Polly Dimapilis. Zan would like to express her sincere gratitude and appreciation to President Hermie S. Aczon and to all of the officers and members of The Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia for giving her the honor of Binibining Pilipinas 2014 as we celebrate 116 years of Philippine Independence.
