On behalf of The Filipino -American Association of Bucks County Inc., it is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to our 41st Annual Pasko sa Nayon. But this year I have to say farewell to all of you after seven challenging years as President of this Association; but it's not the end of my journey and service to the FilipinoAmerican Community because I still have the commitment as President of the Philippine Nurses Association of Pennsylvania and 1st Vice President of the Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia. Tonight a new set of Officers will be inducted and will continue our project and good deeds that FAABCI have been supporting for the last several years. I want to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to all of you, our Loyal Supporters , Advertisers, Donors and the FAABCI Family for your generosity and sharing your time, efforts , sacrifices and financial support. You are all great in participating in our Fund Raising Program with the Pearl S. Buck International. With your continued support, we are able to increase our number of children from 4 to 8. From our Funds we have able to: • Donated $1200 to the Family of our Sponsored Children toward the repair of their house • Donated money for the Typhoon Haiyan victims and to the Familly of our members who were affected by the most devastated typhoon in the Philippines. • Donated one House to the Gawad Kalinga project of the FECGP • Pledge $500 for the repair of The Pearl Buck House in Perkasie, PA. • Able to Buy our own Sound System. • Sponsor our young generation to have a FAABCI Basket Ball Team for the FACAA. • Support the FECGP and other associations on their Fund Raising Event and much more. As I step down the threshold of the Presidency, I earnestly ask you to keep up the good work, the faith and strength we have shown through the years and let the tradition of unity always remain. It was a great honor to earn your trust and having the confidence in me. Leading the FAABCI organization has been the my most wonderful experienced because of the many worthwhile projects we supported and of course working with my dedicated and hard working officers. The closeness, togetherness, the dance practices, themany birthdays we all celebrated and watching the Paquiao fight with the FAABCI are the memories I will cherished and won't forget. To my Family, my husband Jay and my children Jason, Jen , Jhun, Judiith and Joseph I couldn't have done all without your support and love and of course to all my loyal friends. Special thanks to all the Officers with especial mention to our Secretary Stella Mariano, Norma Yabut , Marie Dimalanta and my wonderful Treasurer Myrna Montenegro keeping safe the FAABCI treasury. To the Incoming Officers congratulations and good luck to Grace Arnaiz. Welcome Aboard, I know you could do it and maybe your Administration will do better than what we did. So long! From the Editor We all know the story about the Three Kings who had seen a bright star beckoning them to follow it. The brilliance of the star led them to Jesus in a manger with Mary and Joseph beside Him. Like the Three Kings, we, too, are called to follow our "star" marking our path with light and guiding us to deeper insight and love. There is a so-called "star" of generosity and love. Like the Three Kings, we also could be a wonderful gift-bearer to the eight sponsored children of the Filipino-American Association of Bucks County Inc. (FAABCI). Your presence at the annual Christmas event indirectly helps to meet the needs of these children more than you will ever know. For being a special "star" to these kids, the officers and members of FAABCI would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of you and, at the same time, wish you a joyous Christmas Season filled with gifts of PEACE and LOVE. President Nida Imperial reports: FAABCI have been sponsoring children in the Philippines through Pearl S. Buck International for several years now and FAABCI Board Member Norma Yabut and husband Rick regularly visit these kids every year. Last February 16 & 17 Jay and myself, Rick and Norma Yabut with the staff and Director of Pearl S. Buck International Manila visited 13 children; 8 of them sponsored by FAABCI. Since this was my first time to visit the kids I was so excited and emotional. I cannot stop the tears of joy and happiness and was able to interviewed them: how they are in school and how they feel that they have a sponsor. You can not imagine the impact FAABCi had upon these families as they expressed to us their appreciation and gratefulness over how we supported these children and also helped them financially. These children told us how lucky they are; and their lives have changed as they are inspired to study harder to have a better future. They were equally thankful with our little “pasalubongs” and the Christmas money that we always give for the holidays. We could not forget the warm welcome of their families who proudly showed us their Posters outside their doors saying Welcome FAABCI members. We had two days of visitations in Subic Bay, Zambales, Pampanga and Bulacan. It was a very unforgettable and wonderfully special event for us. One of the Kid presented us his gift: an artwork from school saying “Thank You FAABCI for sponsoring me.” Hoping and wishing that you could join the Yabuts every year and meeting with them personally.
