he preparation of FAMUN’s Study Guide had the special participation of dedicated tutors in the art of teaching, who encouraged us to think critically outside the classroom. They were responsible for the students’ theoretical foundation, helping them to avoid common sense knowledge or shallow argumentation. An example of that is Professor Cunha Couto, who has had years of experience working in the Crisis Cabinet of the Presidency. He taught the directors about decisionmaking process and confidence in times of uncertainty.

Delegates have arrived and cannot wait until simulations begin! Eduardo Weirich is one of FACAMP’s students that will participate in the United States Special Operations Command. Though he is already a member of the Simulation Club of FACAMP, this is his very first time in an official event. The Supremo Tribunal Federal is expected to be a big hit and delegates are ready to face this challenge. Marcelli Bello is here to represent and honor FACAMP and is Ramiro Castro (STF). prepared for anything that comes her way. She acknowledges all the effort that has been made and believes that the book written by FAMUN Team will be of great help. Not long ago when Ramiro Castro (PUC-RS) started simulating, he met some of FACAMP’s students and got to know FAMUN. Based on what he has seen from his new acquaintances, he compliments the organization and the quality of the event.

GabArgentina By Letícia Basílio Los Ministros enfrentarán el difícil contexto de la crisis de 2001, episodio que requiere medidas urgentes y la población exige cambios para la situación de vulnerabilidad económica del país. ILO By Raquel Mastrodi The ILO will discuss two important and yet neglected issues that will help us understand the economic dynamic: structural unemployment and the promotion of decent work. PSC-AU By Tereza Chagas The sessions will be about the conflict in Darfur; therefore, the expectations are very high. First, because the subject transcends security issues and second, it is an unacknowledged matter for most people.

SLD By Leonardo Faria Shangri-La Dialogue is unique due to its concomitant multilateral and bilateral character. Regarding the polemic issues, the Directors hope for more results than the real forum. They expect focus on politic rather than on the juridical questions.

STF By Carla Bonetti Comunidades características se formaram nos refúgios daqueles que se evadiram da escravidão. O comitê vivenciará uma discussão ainda em pauta: a delimitação e a constitucionalidade dos direitos às terras quilombolas.

STF rules revision.

USSOCOM By Carla Bonetti Given the difficulties to adopt resolutions in Syria’s conflict by international organizations, the United States Special Operations Command will discuss strategies to intervene concretely and effectively in this complex scenario.

Thank you, delegate! From FAMUN’s Training Ministro de la Industria Argentina (GabArgentina): “Yo cierro mi discurso. ¡Mucho obrigado!”. Nigeria Representative (PSC-AU): “We are going to protect the animals because here in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight!”. Minister of Defense (SLD): “I believe that all women have the right to wear their bikini tops”.

Hello from the professors By Júlia Landers rofessors Patrícia Rinaldi and Roberta Machado, FAMUN coordinators, have very high expectations for the event. This year the atmosphere will be more exciting and there will be a greater range of themes. The Professors cannot not predict which committee will be the most outstanding one, as their developments are unpredictable and completely in the hands of the delegates. Yet, they believe that all of them have special elements and promise a lot of learning. Finally, the professors stated that simulations have a didactic and practical character that develops fundamental skills that go beyond the classroom, such as teamwork, responsibility, diplomacy and argumentation.
