fter the success of the FACAMP Model United Nations in 2013, it is with great enthusiasm that we start FAMUN’s second edition. During the next four days, High School and College students will be immersed in the universe of simulations, discussing relevant international issues. This year there are eleven committees discussing themes such as Politics, Economics and Law. Moreover, contemporary and historical issues, all guided by the theme “Globalization and Regionalism” will be present given the importance of regional arrangements for the understanding of the International Relations. After a long preparation period, the waiting is over. The 2014 FAMUN’s Team welcomes the newcomers and “modeleiros”, and hopes that everyone will have a great experience in the simulations.

The FAMUN Secretariat, composed by the students Isabella Souza, Guilherme Mattos and Carolina Pazinato, reported that the experience in organizing FAMUN is challenging, but full of learning. Although it is a team work, each one of them is responsible for a specific job: Secretary General, Academic Secretary and Administrative Secretary, respectively. The trio is very pleased with the flow of the event and with the dedication of everyone involved, directors, staff and professors. Finally, the Secretariat leaves a message: “The expectations are great, we have several news and we hope people enjoy them”.

A bigger and more excited family!

As well as students, the professors involved have devoted themselves to the task of guiding and closely monitoring the preparation. This spirit of unity and dedication also took over people who were not directly connected to the simulation world, but that have unique importance in the construction of the event: the staff, responsible for FACAMP’s cleaning and organization. This edition, besides involving a vast mobilization of dedicated and prepared personnel, also has a special element: affection. FAMUN’s family, now bigger and more experienced, promises a very sincere and kind welcome to all of you participants!

fter the end of FAMUN’s first edition, in light of the depression that came over us due to the end of the simulation, another feeling began to take place among those involved with FAMUN: the anxiety for the second edition! Since then, this sensation began to permeate the preparations, uniting students, professors and staff for the FAMUN 2014. During this period, more people have been captivated by the project’s engaging essence, increasing the number of committees and doubling the number of directors. Likewise, more students joined the Simulations Club and went through a strong training program.

More than simulations By Leonardo Faria

esides the simulations that will be held at FAMUN, the event also seeks to stimulate students’ public awareness. For that reason, the Social Activities Directors of FAMUN, Juliana Maziero and Melissa Reis, were responsible for promoting FAMUN’s social action. After all, FAMUN is not only about simulating, but also putting into practice the will to contribute to the world. This year, in addition to the partnership with Social Learning Project (PAS) established in 2013, two new institutions will be privileged: Hemocentro de Campinas and Hospital Infantil Boldrini. They will benefit from blood and alcohol gel donations, respectively.
