How does it work?
This technology utilises the sensitivity of fat cells to cold injury and selectively eliminates fat tissue without affecting the skin. Termed Cryolipolysis, this is an effective noninvasive alternative for subcutaneous fat reduction through cellular death (apoptosis). Cellular apoptosis is a normally occurring biological process whereby cells are eliminated as part of normal cell turnover. When injurious external stimuli (such as cold) are applied to a target cell, the apoptotic process may be triggered. If triggered, the injured cell consequently enters an orderly, regulated process of gradual degradation into smaller bodies which are absorbed by the body’s immune system over time. The cold treatment algorithm implemented by the Coolplas technology is designed to trigger apoptosis, eliminating fat cells without generating a wound healing reaction.
How is it done?
Precisely controlled cooling is applied through the skin to the fat layer. Cooling is maintained for a pre-determined time to damage the fat cells. Fat cells begin a natural removal process that continues for several months. The natural removal of fat cells overtime results in gradual fat layer reduction (around 2-3 months).
