“Eusoff Handball (F) team started out with half the team being experienced seniors and the other half, freshies who were new to the sport. We have come a long way, from learning basics to playing as a team, and eventually making it to the IHG finals. Each player had put in much effort to train and play their hearts out for the team, and had the chance to truly bleed yellow for Eusoff. This young team certainly has a lot of potential and will come back stronger next season! 135

“The handball team this year achieved 2nd in IHG. It was a great improvement from last year. There was time when most of us couldn’t even throw and catch a handball. However, when it was all said and done, we ended up in the finals, which turned to be one hell of a game. We were not the favorites; every match was a journey, every play a battle. The team played for each other, whether it was on the court, cheering on the bench or supporting from the crowd. This was the most important aspect - when all of Eusoff came together as one team against all odds.” 136

The Netball team of 1516 is a team worth remembering. Despite coming from different netball backgrounds, their differences did not separate them but made them even stronger altogether. The players were extremely committed to their goal and to each other, often encouraging and actively supporting one another. It was heartening to see that the players came down for trainings because they enjoyed the company of each other. Not being able to clinch the Gold for Eusoff was definitely a heart-wrenching moment for the entire team, but I am confident that the team next year will take Eusoff Netball to even greater heights. In the words of Winston Churchill, “there is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of humans, are created, strengthened and maintained. This team started off as strangers, but left as family. 140

PLAYERS (M) Goh Zhong Xian Lionel Ho Zheng Yong Hong Rui Josiah Lee Jian Ler Lee Jun Yi Lee Lai Sheng Leng Kenn Siang Ng You Hao Ong Zhi Hao Zachary Ryan Devaraj Liam Ting Wei “This year’s road relay team saw many talented fresh faces, and given the fact that all of the previous year’s runners were still around, there’s definitely the expectation to go one better or at least maintain last year’s result. With the likes of a SEA Games runner in the team, competition within the team was greater than ever. Despite the team’s best efforts to conquer the arduous CLB slope, TH came out stronger and secured 2nd spot while KR retained the crown. Nonetheless, good job everyone and the team will no doubt come back stronger next year!” 146

Thank you, for showing the juniors what Eusoff is. Juniors, thank you, for playing with your heart. I know that next year’s team will bring back the Gold for Eusoff, as you girls not only have the capability to do so, but deserve it too. Being a hall captain is not as trivial as outsiders think. To the future soccer captains and to all future Eusoff Captains, remember to lead with your heart, if not, it will be hard.” 153

“Soccer (M) 15/16 is proud to bring back the Gold for Eusoff once again after being unfortunately knocked out by Temasek Hall last year on penalties. It was a long and arduous IHG season, with Soccer (M) originally slated to start one of the earliest, but its games were eventually squeezed back-to-back in the lead up to the closing of IHG. Despite all these struggles, Soccer (M) stayed strong and together to ultimately clinch the gold. It was well fought and certainly well deserved. All the best to next year’s team and may they carry on our winning ways!” 154

“My initial objectives for the team was to let the freshies gain exposure and for the seniors to guide them along. But most importantly, I wanted them to find the joy of playing and for seniors to rediscover it. Despite having a rocky start and facing elimination at the beginning, the team eventually got their act together and put up a good fight. We entered the playoffs as an underdog and worked even harder to climb our way to the finals. Even though we clinched 2nd, it was no doubt still a satisfying victory for us.

“The table tennis girls have surpassed our own expectations in IHG 15/16 by finally bringing home the gold medal after 3 years. We met with powerhouse Temasek during the finals and it was not an easy fight. However, it was made possible with our team of dedicated players and supporters. We are very thankful to everyone who supported us throughout our IHG journey, especially those that came down to KE VII for our finals. The table tennis team will work even harder next year as the defending champion. 183

While most of the other halls invested much resources into the recruitment of star players as well as coaches, one of our only four tables gave way, never to be used again. Despite these circumstances, we persevered and trained, harder than ever. And all our hard work soon paid off, when against all odds, we emerged as champions for the girls and 1st runners-up for the guys during the InterHall Games. However, more importantly, through the pain and the struggles, we grew as close as ever to one another. We realised that if our team was a sundae, all these sporting achievements are just mere toppings, while our friendship and camaraderie is definitely the cherry at the top of it all. 184

“The female touch rugby team faced several challenges this year. Despite having numerous IVP players, we were at a disadvantage because of the IVP cap that only allowed two IVP players on the field at once. This caused the team much worry because approximately half our team were IVP players. However, we did not let this setback get the better of us. The non-IVP players diligently came down earlier every training to brush up on their techique, and worked extra hard to get on the same page as the seniors. Our coach Jazreel really helped to motivate and push us to work as a team instead of only relying on senior players to pull in the touchdowns. On the game day, we did not take anything for granted. Everyone rose to the occasion when it mattered and we emerged victorious as champions. Touch rugby is a team sport and I can proudly say that it was teamwork that won us the first place. 205

Even though we started off with most people having little or no experience in touch rugby, we still came out at the top through hard work and determination. Our team was also nominated as the Best Team for in Eusoff. As the captain of this team, I couldn’t be happier than achieving more than what we had set out to achieve.” 206

“Volleyball IHG for guys this year did not turn out as expected in terms of results in the end because despite the bad groupings, objectively we really had the potential to win. Despite the outcome, we did put up a decent fight because the tables were turned multiple times during the matches. Regardless, the trainings and competition were enjoyable and it is also assuring that some of the new players managed to pick up this not-so-easy-to-learn sport in such a short amount of time. Hopefully the team next year will be able to hit a new mark for Eusoff volleyball. 214
