Silver Honoree Chantay Hawkins Warren was initiated i Sorority, Incorporated®, Grambling State University, Spring 1989. Before graduating, she had the honor of representing her “True Elegance” line in a show-stopping, championship-winning fall step show performance. During her matriculation at GSU, she served as a writer, and then editor, of The Gramblinite newspaper. She then earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and returned a few years later to obtain a master’s degree in the same field.

Ms. Warren’s education spawned a 25-year career as a newspaper journalist. She has worked for several major daily newspapers including the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Her longest newspaper tenure was at the San Antonio Express-News in San Antonio, Texas where she wrote a parenting column and a blog and earned a newspaper design award. After returning to North Texas in 2014, she transitioned to the airline industry and is currently a Senior Communications Specialist in the Flight Service department at American Airlines.

Ms. Warren joined the Omicron Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in 2015 and again in 2020. She is proud to be a part of the amazing AKAlades and a member of the Founders’ Day and Sisterly Relations committees.

Ms. Warren was born and raised in Minden, Louisiana. Her parents are Bobbie Jean Hawkins of Minden and Wilbert Carr of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After college, she lived several years in Jacksonville, Florida where she met Honey-Do Willie James Warren Jr. Their union blessed them with two children, but they are the proud parents of five all together: Willie III, Brandon, Colin, Tayla, and Tyson. They also have three precious grandchildren Brandon Jr., Brielle, and Bryson who joined the family in December 2022.
