Brenda Thomas
Golden Honoree Brenda Joyce Thomas, a native of Hope, Arkansas, was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. in December 1973, as a charter member of the Theta Eta Chapter at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Mrs. Thomas received a bachelor’s in Music Education from Henderson State University.
In addition to being an active member of the Omicron Mu Omega chapter, she has reached the incredible milestone of obtaining Golden Status. Mrs. Thomas has served on the AKAmenities, AKAlades, Community Impact, Chapter Retreat and Membership committees. She has participated in her chapter’s service projects, women’s shelters and walk/runs for Breast Cancer Awareness and American Heart Association.

During her previous years in Arkansas, she served faithfully as Minister of Music and Pianist at her home church for twenty-four years. She has taught in Independent School Districts, worked for the U.S. Forest Service and retired from the Food and Drug Administration as a Financial Management Specialist in 2013. Because of her commitment and outstanding work ethics at FDA, she was the recipient of the 2008 Achieve Green Status Award and in 2007 received a Star Performer award from the Chief of Shared Services.
Mrs. Thomas is a member of True Lee Missionary Baptist Church. She currently serves as the Treasurer of the R. L. Parish Sanctuary Choir, serves on the Wells and Means Committee, and is a member of the Mission Rising Star Circle.
Mrs. Thomas is enjoying her retirement. She is married to Mr. Jeffrey Thomas, and they have one daughter, Haley Coleman. Her philosophy of life is Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” In her leisure time, she enjoys music, decorating, crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with family.
