he California Energy Commission revealed in its report that California needs about 1.2 million electric vehicle chargers by 2030 to match the 7.5 million passenger vehicle demand expected by that time. This is in line with the charging needs stipulated in Bill 2127 and Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order, which requires all new passenger vehicles to produce zero carbon emissions by 2035. In addition, the commission also stated that; •
157,000 more chargers would be required by 2030 for medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses, estimated to be 180,000.

This is short of the 250,000 chargers the state had envisioned by the same year.
