Is Your Home a Turn-off for Homebuyers?
Frustration describes it better! It probably is the worst disappointment for any seller when their homes stay longer than usual in the listing market with no prospective buyer. Every seller hopes to have their home sell at the fastest rate after listing, but sadly this is not always the normality. It’s a seller’s market country-wide, and Oakland is not an exception. A home is listed today, and it’s sold by tomorrow, such a crazy fast sale mode, right? It, therefore, would raise some red flags to any seller whose house lags unusually in the market. All left for the seller is pondering and unending questions, but could the home be a turn-off? Yes, it could, for these reasons;
Overpricing your home - It’s always a bustle and hustle for buyers before and when preparing to purchase a home. They have to strain their finances and do a lot to make sure they qualify for loans to meet the down payment and closing costs for houses. With all these on their side, they find it a tedious task to try and negotiate for a home price but prefer to go for the less expensive home because the crazily high price is a turn-off for them. “Data shows that if you list a home 10% under market value, you will attract 75% of the buyer pool, versus only 30% if you were to list 10% over market value,” said Melissa Colabella, at Sotheby’s International. Any seller should, therefore, reasonably set home prices by consulting a quality realtor.
UNATTRACTIVE CURB APPEAL
It is more of the first impression than the interior of a home for buyers. Curb appeal raises the value
and attraction of a home by 7 percent. Unattractive curb appeal is always the first turn-off for buyers. It’s the responsibility of the seller to have their landscape stunning, plant fresh flowers and grasses, lawn the yards, repaint the house with appealing colors, and do all that it takes to improve the curb appeal. This will have buyers running to have an interior view of the house and be more than willing to make it their dream home.
UNAPPEALING INTERIOR DÉCOR AND CONDITIONS
Your favorite color designs may seem dull or outrageous for buyers, which is a turn-off. It’s advisable to repaint your walls with neutral colors. Also, dirty rooms, floors, and broken appliances give buyers second thoughts about not buying your home. No buyer wants to come back to such a house. Always make your home presentable before viewings; you can even go the extra mile and hire cleaners and professional interior designs to refurnish.
With the lively cultural scenes, shady oak trees, diverse population, tourists attraction, not forgetting its proximity to the famous San Francisco County, Oakland has become a fastgrowing renaissance city. Additionally, it’s a seller’s market, and all these have attracted plenteous development and real estate investment opportunities. Hence, no seller has an excuse to have their homes staying abnormally longer in the market for lack of buyers. The only reason for this situation is that your home is a turn-off, which can be rectified. Wondering how? The Power Is Now Media got you!
