OUR MISSION
OUR MISSION
All Saints Episcopal School is a community dedicated to academic excellence in a secure and supportive Christian environment.
OUR PRAYER
Father in heaven, whose son Jesus Christ took children into His arms and blessed them; Bless, we pray, the students of All Saints School. Grant that we may grow up reverently in your love; Give us day by day strength and guidance; So that we may continue in your love and service until our lives end. Grant this, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
ll Saints has long had a tradition of providing academic excellence and being on the leading edge of education in the community. Our commitment to strategic planning and employing the most visionary leaders in Southeast Texas, was evident the day we unveiled the greatest addition to our campus for the 2022-2023 school year… the All Saints SmartLab!
Learning is different here! This is the maxim of the SmartLab philosophy as well as the All Saints approach to learning. We see it in the way we worship daily, in the way we build relationships that strengthen our community, and in the way we teach students to think. It is about enriching, engaging, and educating the whole child as we help prepare them for a future that we can only begin to imagine.
When the Board plans strategically for our campus, when the administration researches and makes decisions about curriculum and technology to support learning, and when teachers look for ways to differentiate instruction to support and challenge each of their students, it is all done by looking through the lens of tomorrow’s glasses. Knowing that only by instilling curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills in children can we truly prepare them for those unforeseen careers that will be their future.
Throughout the pages of this Annual Report, you will not only learn about the innovative new SmartLab, but you will see the efforts of talented faculty and staff, Board leadership, parent volunteers, generous donors, and hard-working students, who have helped us succeed in all areas of campus life. We are grateful for these accomplishments and humbled by the dedication of those families who support our Mission, and who pray for our continued success in the future. A future we can only imagine!

2022-2023 marked the first full calendar year of our rebranded Auxiliary Program. Our Auxiliary Program includes Early Morning Saints (before school care), CLUB All Saints (extended day and after school care), Enrichment 360 (after school enrichment classes), Thanksgiving 360 and Christmas 360 (holiday care), and Summer 360 (summer camps and summer care).
With the ability to meet the before school, after school, and year-round needs of our families, All Saints is able to enhance the value proposition available to our students, improving our families’ quality of life, and continuing to differentiate the All Saints experience from every other school in Southeast Texas!

Celebrating the 33 countries of students represented in our school community during our 4th annual Culture Festival, All Saints Episcopal School embraced our campus cultural diversity in significant and meaningful ways: hot lunches offered for purchase reflecting food from different continents, special chapel services incorporating music and worship from around the globe, an assembly featuring international performances from guest artists, country-specific presentations provided by our very own families, a cultural “free dress” day, and a fascinating guest speaker from Germany who provided great insight to our Middle School students, comparing and contrasting the structure of government of Europe and the United States. We are grateful for the tremendous number of volunteers and participants who made this week-long event possible!
The SmartLab motto, Learning is Different Here, perfectly aligns with the All Saints educational philosophy. Our commitment to cultivating the growth mindset of students and faculty, researching the latest developments of pairing technology and education, and the goal of preparing our students for careers that we can’t begin to imagine, ensure that learning at All Saints is different. To that end, we remain dedicated to providing a forward-thinking, innovative education to our students, adapting to the ever-changing educational landscape.
On August 2, 2021, we received an email introducing us to a STEM program and curriculum called SmartLab and immediately scheduled a meeting for August 6 on campus with the SmartLab representative and our tech team. It was evident that the SmartLab was the next step in fulfilling our vision to equip our students with skills necessary for their future. One year later, in August 2022, the SmartLab was up and running.
The decision to install the SmartLab was predicated on the groundwork laid over the past twentyplus years:
H Apple II and Dell computers in the computer labs (1990’s and 2000’s)
H 4C 1:1 iPad Initiative (2012)
H Transitioning 4th-8th graders to Chromebooks
H Camp Invention summer programs
H Robotics teams
H Coding Curriculum
H Tech teams annually attending International Society of Technology in Education Conferences to learn about the latest trends in technology and education
A seismic shift in education at All Saints came in 2012 with the bold step of committing to 21st Century Learning and the introduction of the 4C 1:1 Initiative. The 4 C’s - Creativity H Communication H Critical Thinking H Collaboration became the four pillars of moving forward toward engaged learning, student-centered learning, discovery-based learning and project-based learning.
The 4 C’s and the 4 pillars are the critical features of learning at All Saints and the SmartLab curriculum. Just as we are preparing our students for their futures twenty years from now, we can look back and see that twenty years ago, All Saints was preparing for this next step of having a SmartLab. Time will only tell what the SmartLab is preparing us for twenty years from now. One thing is certain, the motto Learning is Different Here, will remain a guiding principle at All Saints, ensuring our students will continue to thrive and flourish.
Sally Wilson Assistant Head of School Director of Curriculum
The NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Assoc.) MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Growth Tests are given in the fall, winter, and spring to all K-8 students. This adaptive assessment provides parents and teachers with a measure of both a student’s academic achievement and growth for the year. Below is a chart of the scores from the spring of 2022-2023 showing that the majority of All Saints students are scoring at or above the national grade-level norm.
This second chart shows the percentile growth from the fall to the spring of 2022-2023. The national norm percentile range is 40 - 60. All Saints students scored above the national norm percentile range at all grade levels and in all subjects.
The All Saints Vikings proudly celebrated another successful year of athletics. As the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, we welcomed spectators back in the stands to cheer on our dedicated athletes!
Volleyball The “A” volleyball team finished with a record of 8 wins and 4 losses which placed them third in our league this season. They also placed 2nd in our All Saints tournament. The “B” team finished with a record of 5 wins and 5 losses. Our girls were playing great at the end of the season and a majority of our team will be back to play with us next year.
Cross Country Our cross country team ended their season by participating in the Liberty, Community Christian and Little Cypress Christian Academy (LCCA) meets. In the Liberty meet, which was the biggest meet we ran in this year, our boys team placed 2nd overall out of 12 teams. They then backed up that performance by placing 1st in both the Community Christian and LCCA meet. The girls team also finished off their season by placing 1st overall in the LCCA meet. Overall we had 12 different individuals win medals this season!
Soccer The soccer team finished their season with a perfect 8-0 record placing us in first for the first time since 2017. This was an exciting group of athletes to watch play, and with a majority of the team being 7th and 6th graders I’m excited to see what the future holds for our Viking soccer team.
Girls Basketball “A” team ended with a record of 6 wins and 4 losses. This made us third place in our league. Our “B” team finished with a record of 7 wins and 0 losses. They were a younger team and I’m excited to watch them develop over the next few years.
Boys Basketball Both “A” and “B” teams finished up their season playing some strong basketball. The “A” team finished with a league record of 12 wins and 0 losses which placed us 1st in the league for the first time since 2016! The “B” team finished with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses which placed them 2nd in the league.
Softball The softball team had an outstanding season. Their work ethic and competitive drive paid off down to the very end of the season. The league championship came down to the last game of the season and our girls prevailed victorious in one of the best junior high softball games I have ever seen. They finished the season with 7 wins and 1 loss and have now won the league in consecutive years.
Tennis The tennis team just finished one of the most successful seasons in school history. In total, we brought home 24 of the 25 possible medals from the tournaments.
Golf Our golf team finished their season with a rain shortened tournament last Monday at the country club. In all, 7 of our 9 golfers brought home a medal this season with 2 golfers medaling in every tournament they played in.
Track We had twenty 7th and 8th graders participate in the track meet this year. We had a successful showing bringing home 36 ribbons as a team.
At All Saints, we believe Fine Arts are a key component of child development. Bright, young minds need opportunities to express themselves through art, drama and music. Engagement in the arts has been shown to foster innovation, critical thinking, communication, self-confidence, emotional literacy, and creativity, all skills which are essential in 21st century life. In 2022-2023 students had an abundance of opportunities to creatively express themselves in the Middle School musical, the Primary and Lower School music programs, and the Art Show which was combined this year with Grandparents and Special Friends Day.
Spirituality is experienced throughout our campus in a variety of ways. Daily chapel is one example of how we worship together as a community. Additionally, generations of families and students gather for the highly anticipated performances of the Primary and Lower School Christmas pageants which are just a couple of our long-standing, faith-based traditions.
When our school community joins together, great things happen! The result is an environment that is both warm and inviting, providing experiences to our students and families rich with tradition and innovation. Whether it is planning and participating in campus wide events or volunteering on committees, our Parent Association tirelessly contributes to the success of our community and consistently supports the mission of the school.
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Enjoy these pages celebrating the All Saints Class of 2019. We congratulate their graduation from high school and pray for them daily as their educational journey continues!
“Entering All Saints as a kindergartener, I was hardly a star student. Be it in lieu of behavioral upsets or my drawn-out battle with literacy, my teachers often had to take special time and effort to work with me. They tutored me, disciplined me, but most of all they placed belief in me. They never let me give up on myself. Along the way, I got to absorb all the skills that the All Saints curriculum deftly imparts. This school is particularly gifted with teaching their students critical thinking. Upon entering high school, I was able to take that skill and self-teach 5 AP courses, from World History to Physics C Mechanics. All Saints’ writing program proved another crucial gift. Whereas most high school freshman were barely learning the structure for an essay, I had already written enough at All Saints for such assignments to come as second nature. This allowed me to focus on details and on developing my own voice within my essays. I was especially grateful for that development when it came time to apply for scholarships and college admissions. Of course, All Saints provides excellent education, but it provides something far greater: the capacity in students to educate themselves. I graduated All Saints confident that I could do whatever I put my mind to. I would never have been able to accomplish half of what I have if I had not believed in myself, and I would not have believed in myself if All Saints had not believed in me first.”

On May 8, 2023 the All Saints community gathered in the Calcote Library and Discovery Center for an auspicious occasion… to share stories, shed tears, and celebrate the long illustrious teaching careers of Carol Johnson and Carol Chenault. (Even though Mrs. Chenault officially retired from teaching in 2020, COVID restrictions prevented our community from gathering for a celebration prior to this date.) Many tributes were bestowed upon Carol Johnson (P.E. Instructor for 39 years) and Carol Chenault (Science teacher over the span of 41 years). There was laughter, there were tears, and there was lots of cake! All Saints Episcopal School owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to these two, talented professionals who loved and inspired generations of students!
On April 30, 2023 St. Mark’s Episcopal Church celebrated Fr. Dean Calcote’s retirement from the ministry. The event was well attended with many members from both the church community and the All Saints Episcopal School community in attendance. Fr. Calcote officially retired from All Saints Episcopal School in 1998 after serving 24 years as Headmaster and continued to lead chapel on a weekly basis until this past spring. We are grateful for the many years of service Fr. Calcote gave to both of these communities, influencing the lives of generations of students and parishioners.
