THE TUMULT AND THE SHOUTING Thousands, more than that…hollering… as if something is taking place… shouting in grandstands, concerts and it goes on louder and louder, clouds move across the sky as if time is moving backwards, as if something is being prepared… parades, heavy-handed ceremonies… the media doesn’t miss much, yet…there is no Caesar, no Roman legions, more thousands shouting and still more… and if all these shouts systematize themselves into one long shout that seems to stagger yet grip the earth at its center and the information guys explain it all always… and that always is a long, drawn out always that seems to have no beginning and certainly no end. —Tom Farbman
