PRESIDENT’S COLUMN

I do see and feel the light at the end of the tunnel though. The light that reminds me of the sun on a nice warm summer day, that just makes you want to take a dip in the ocean and buy ice cream and lay down on the beach with family and friends. I can’t stress this enough when I’m telling you that life and the time as a student goes by fast. I feel like I haven’t even had a moment to close my eyes before I’m standing at Brännbollsyran and celebrating another accomplished year as a business student at Umeå University.

I’m currently in Luleå as I’m writing this, looking out and admiring the snow and the nice evening sun that peeks out in the month of May up here. The night before today there was a blizzard and the roads were covered with nearly a decimetre of snow. At this very moment, summer and the warm winds feel far away and I can’t get over the fact that there is only one month left of this semester. Currently I’ve a lot going on in my head; it’s everything from formulas from my advanced statistics course, work regarding HHUS, my job and trying to keep up with everything as I still want to take part in all of the fun activities that take place this time of year.

I know life can be hard at times, and sometimes you feel like you want to do so much with the little time you have. Everyone always talks about getting that job of their dreams, or completing all their courses with the highest grades and while doing this also having a fun time with your friend and attend events, but still not forgetting your family and other friends back home. Sometimes life can be hard to manage and things can really feel like they are spiraling out of control just by the fact that the time we have is so limited. But please do not forget to cherish this moment. This moment right here, right now, where things might not always seem like they will be solved. Because although it might seem hard to manage - summer is just around the corner and waiting for you to cherish every last moment of it. Don’t forget to have fun, relax and forget about your studies for a moment. I’m beyond proud of you and the year as a business student you have just completed.
