CLUB ELECTIONS The end District Convention marks the end of the Key Club service year. This year, the date is March 25, 2018. The new club executives will begin their terms. Make sure that you hold club elections for club executive positions. You must submit your club’s executive roster (aka the Club Election Form) for the 2018-2019 year at the registration desk at convention.

Here are some tips for holding club elections

1

Ask the previous years’ executives who are in grade 11 or below to run again for a position.

2 3

Current executives describe their position. Many people want to be involved in the club but are not sure exactly what the different positions. Hold a Q & A session to clear up any confusion.

4

Get the candidates that were not elected involved in the club. It takes courage and self-confidence to run for an exec position. Even though they weren’t voted in, they have the qualities of a dedicated Key Clubber.

5 6

Encourage younger members, such as grade 9 students, to run for a position. If they’re nervous, remind them that their grade will be leaders of your club in the next 2-3 years. Everyone starts somewhere! Not many other clubs offer better leadership experience.

During speeches, make sure that every candidate has an equal amount of speaking time and that the audience is attentive. Everyone deserves a fair chance.

Send out applications well ahead of time. Give potential applicants plenty of time to consider running.
